Bottom right is from Maid-Sama, Misaki Ayuzawa, and top right is Jibril from No Game No Life.

That's were bottom right was from, yeah she was a pretty interesting character. I've not seen No Game No Life so how I came to the conclusion that Jibril was familiar to me, maybe I've seen her on YouTube or something.

Apologies for watermark, bottom right is Misaki Ayuzawa.

Also, the only one it really feels right calling a waifu here for me is Sypha Belnades. (Middle.) The rest here feel more like my favorite female characters.

The only lady I know for sure is Revy from Black Lagoon, not sure why but bottom right and top right seem familiar but I can't quite place them.

You won't be disappointed by Parasyte, the show is awesome and one of Madhouse's best series. IMO.

I had an anime tier list that I put a lot of thought into and just translated it into this list.

You've watched some good stuff, respect+, if you liked Madoka Magica you might want to check out Gen Urobuchi's other works he released around that same time period Fate/Zero and Psycho Pass. Really worth a watch.

Also I see you liked Cowboy Beebop so you might want to check out Shinichiro Watanabe's other series, Samurai Champaloo and Space Dandy have a very similar vibe. But very different music as each have there own musical flare.

And finally End of Evangelion, the sequel move of the original series. It looks awesome and really completes the series so you might want to give that one a try when you get the chance as it can only add to your enjoyment of the series.

  5. I suppose there are many aspects, one think I really like is originality. Now nothing in media is ever really original, however if a work can feel fresh and innovative it really helps stick out more and thus grab my attention and is something I look for. For example Evangelion was an innovative Mecha series, same could be said for Madoka Magical which also brought a new spin on Magical Girls. Then I think another think that can help an Anime (or any other work of fiction) is it being more introspective and thought provoking. Shows like ones previously mentioned, but others including Wolfs Rain, Fate/Zero and Monster are all great examples. But even shows like Gurren Lagann which seems silly and goofy on the surface actual hold's some pretty profound ideas about 'growing up', 'believing on oneself' and 'moving on'.

So those are defiantly some of the things that I find most of my favourite anime share or have in common. It not so much that they have the tightest of plot lines or have a solid cast of characters - those are defiently bonuses and really add to a work. But Eva cast isn't packed full of A-list characters (imo), and Ergo Proxy plot and consistency can become incomprehensibly meta and requires out of show study to understand what's going on in it.

But Ergo, Eva, Madoka, Hunter x Hunter, Fate/Zero and Monster (which is practically perfect in my opinion) are always gonna stick with me as I watch more anime.

  6. I think I stumbled across it looking for an Anime Forum, I'd been into Anime for about a year or two at that point but beyond a few friends (one being an exclusive Pokemon fan) I didn't have many Friends into Anime so it was difficult to share my growing passion in Anime with people who don't care for it. And I don't want to be that annoying Anime guy we all here about online, so to the Forums it was.

2 notable ones I've dropped were Naruto and Toradora.

Naruto as a whole I just found really lifeless. 5 episodes in, and I couldn't find a single funny moment, or anything to note in each character that wasn't directly shown. Shows generally have characters acting in ways that are only explained later that the audience may pick up on and even find out themselves, and really nice small details, but that just was not in Naturo, so it felt lifeless.

Toradora is a lot better than Naruto, the show is really interesting, I liked the situations and characters themselves, but the plot and character development were what felt REALLY weak.

Naruto is one of those shows that seems really popular with those that got into Anime in there childhood, but for those of us that got into anime later, who've seen other similar (and better) shows it can be hard to appreciate the show. I mean it not even something I've considered watching, due to its length, its age and its target demographic. As for Toradora, an interesting show to drop cause it not overly long. Not sure at what point you just caved and gave up but I have watched it and I think your critique is on point because those first twelve of so episodes are really mostly just padding as the show doesn't want to come to the obvious conclusion its already set up.

I watched a few shows the past few years, but I really began getting into anime at the end of 2021, and have been Binging show after show for the past few months.

I've always appreciated good works of art in any medium, and anime is no different. The kinda shows I wanna see are good ones, I don't care what genre they are, FMA, Ouran high school host club, Serial Experiments Lain, whatever.

I'm here mainly because I really like talking about anime. I talk about it with my friends, my coworkers, and consume YouTube videos of breakdowns/criticisms/analysis of an anime I've watched. So yeah, I'm happy to be here, I hope to get along with y'all.

Weirdly enough that sounds very similar to me,  only different is I got into Anime middle of 2020 or around that time. However I too like to watch the good works, I go through serious vetting to not waste my time, I stick to stuff I know I like or look up openings, check scores, look for opinions and also see what recommendation I get from the shows I've seen. It works nighty percent of the time, but the occasional Witch Hunter Robin or Golden Times slip through.

FMA is a great show, if you're looking for another great Shonen try Hunter x Hunter that an awesome series if you've not got round to it. It slightly loner maybe running another sixty episodes or more however it much shorter than One Piece.

I watched that one a long time ago but don’t remember any specifics (other than most comments I saw from people familiar with the VN thought it was lacking).

I think now a days there's a meme or saying which goes 'there is no Tsukihime anime'.

So I can imagine from that it not very popular. However I like to judge shows for myself, I mean Wolf's Rain, Blue Gender and even Fate Stay Night (the Studio Deen one) all have there detractors but I liked those shows.

im 28 years old I am a male

i love anime definitely my favorite top of discussion

i am socialable but also like to be in peace and clear away and empty my mind and soul :))

what i like to enjoy after a long day of anime is getting chinese food hehe :)

im'a very open with anything ask away im new here i wish i can share some of anime i seen and have a great start :))

Welcome to the Forums, what type of Anime do you like and what are you're top three anime? Also what you're preferred Chinese dish?

My top three anime would have to be Monster, Fate/Zero and Hunter x Hunter. As for my favourite Chinese dish properly a Beef Curry, with Fired Rice and Thin Noodles.

  11. Code Geass and Blue Gender are two military series I can think off when it comes to anime I've seen. Beyond Gundam of course. There's also Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Yamato, which are military space opera, I'd say LOTGH is more a military strategy and political series. But a really good series none the less, and Yamato is just non-stop action and lots of fun to sit back and take in. Finally as somthing a little different, Genocidal Organ is a military anime which kind of as a 'future warfare' vibe.

I'm gonna have to check that out, so it gonna be on the Right Stuff... which probably means it gonna be hella expensive. However I'm a huge fate fanboy, so I might splurge.

Managed to snag myself a pre-order. Without breaking the bank. That site got a lot of Fate merch on it.

I have Perfect Blue on DVD to watch next too, but I can't say I'm familiar with Satoshi Kon's work outside these two projects.

I've looked up online he directed Tokyo Godfathers, Millennium Actress, Paprika and Good morning. Perfect Blue looks to be his first film he was director on, he also did direct three episodes of the original JoJo run.

    The more you know.

I'm four episodes in and I'm liking it so far. A bit trippy in places so having to wind back to get a second viewing lol

Yeah it defiantly one of those trippy, psychological shows. It was directed by Satoshi Kon and it defiantly has his style. I might be wrong, but I think it the only TV series he ever directed.

    @TheSmolestAnimeNerd @MediaConsumesMe
I also enjoyed Madoka Magica, haven’t yet seen the movies, but want to. I watched the 1st season of Magia Record, but haven’t decided whether or not to watch the rest of it.

I think the only film you need to see is Rebellion, as it the sequel to the original series the first two films Beginnings and Eternal are simply recap movies of the series. So you can skip those if you watch the series, and just jump on into Rebellion. Walpurgisnacht Rising was teased recently and that's gonna be a sequel to Rebellion and continuation of the story.

As for Magia Record from what I understand (only watched the first series) it a side story so like a spin off (similar to Apocrypha and Grand Order in Fate) so there not necessary viewing to the main series but are just extra Madoka Magica. I liked the first season so I'll watch the second and final seasons later but I'm waiting for the Blu-ray release. Whenever that comes about.

honestly i adored the series and after i watched Rebellion that little bitch broke my heart and i just want to protect her

I also like Madoka Magica, but then again anything written by Urobuchi and I'll gladly watch it. Looking forward to Walpurgisnacht Rising, and the rest of Magia Record... whenever that meant to release on Blu-ray.

  17. I've always been into nerd culture. Doctor who, Star Wars, Babylon 5. I also was into games, abd since I was a kid I had a controller in my hand.

I got into anime much later on, but it hits that same spot. And as a lot of the above stuff as changed in directions which I personally fine un-fun. I find I have literally decades of anime to shift through to find the stuff I didn't watch back then but still resonates with what I like in the media I am nostalgic for.

Finished Skeleton Knight in Another World last night. Certainly not the most original or well executed series, but definitely entertaining 😁 Arc is a very likable  protag (heart of gold 💛, head of bone 💀 :P ). Ariane is a bit fanservicey but capable of being badass scary (particularly in the final ep) & makes a good traveling companion/potential romantic interest for him. Ponta & Chiyome are both cute as heck. And Goemon is a perfect “bro” for him 💪 Also equal parts amusing & interesting how Arc’s “low-profile good deeds” are having a much greater impact on the fantasy world’s  political landscape than he realizes. Only complaint is that the series’ opening scene (an attempted rape by a group of brigands) was excessive (made me uncomfortable & probably scared some viewers off). But other than that, I’m actually hoping it gets another season 🤞

Reminds me of Goblin Slayer. I remember when I first watched that, the first episode completely threw me. The goblins raping and murdering the Priestess companions was so messed up, and then the genocide of Goblin children by the titular Goblin Slayer. For a first episode that was really unpleasant. The rest of the show was pretty enjoyable, so I guess Skeleton Knight is sort of the Iseaki version of that. As far as opening episodes being sort of over the top edgy for the sake of shock value?

Not sure what they gain, as it seems your more likely to lose interested people. Keep the dark shit for later on, so all the invested time and sunk cost fallacy kicks in. By the time you get to the end of Wolfs Rain, or the Chimera Ant arc you can't back out by then.

Also I started Gintama and Yu Yu Hakusho. Gintama watch order is a little messy so I might need to look into what order to watch it in, as there several seasons, movies and OVAs and I don't want to miss anything crucial as I heard that it a comedy which sets a lot of stuff up early such as long running gags (a little like RVB from back in the day). As for Hakusho, now that I finished HxH and all its films and with no confirmed date for anything else HxH related beyond the Manga coming out from Hiatus this might be the perfect time to watch Togashi other series.

I heard it good, and considering I ended up rating HxH a 10/10, I can't imagine Hakusho is bad by any means.

I couldn't find a rule against posting twice in a row, so hopefully this is okay ^^. (Some forums do have that rule).

I went ahead and updated my list. Changed a lot of Tens to lower, a lot of which I thought of as 10s at the time but now that time has passed, not as much. But I also added some new 10s...

Also, like I said I hadn't updated since 2018, so I added a bunch that I know I've watched, but I might have missed some in there somewhere. One one hand I don't think I could forget many, but on the other hand, I went and looked at my funimation history as far as it would go, (Last fall) I found 2-3 that I had completely forgotten I watched... guess we see how much I liked those... So who knows how many others I forgot.

But I also rewatch a lot of anime more than I watch new stuff (Trying to break out of that habit though). So this really could be about it.

    https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Takatofan1986

I'm proud that you were able to reduce the amount of tens by about half, that an achievement. Also looking over your list I realised (with shock and horror) that you have yet to see any of the Fate anime.

    See the source image

You need to get on that bandwagon. Its good.

So... in 2018 My Anime List, which until then I had used pretty faithfully, got hacked. It was unusable for a couple months, and by the time it was fixed, (And I had been watching a lot of anime in that time) I never went back and started it up again. Maybe one of these days I'll go back and update it.

But for now, here's My Anime List, as of 2018.

    https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Takatofan1986

That alot of tens, my count was 64 total masterpieces you've seen. Might be a tad excessive, I usually try to ratio my list to a solid 1 in 10 shows can be '10s' and the rest gotta be moved down.
