  1. If you’ve been following my recent posts, you’ll know this series has become one of my obsessions. The premise is that eight teenagers, (each specializing in a particular genre of online gaming) are abducted and forced to complete a series of challenges which are streamed live. Their masked host informs that they will remain trapped until they can accumulate 100 million views. The things that stand out immediately are the weird setting where realistically impossible things happen frequently and the smart-alecky banter between the characters (kinda like Haruhi Suzimiya). While the initial impression of the series is comedic, the more it progresses the more mystery, suspense & psychological it becomes. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the various characters have their own secrets and in at least one case it makes him/her potentially dangerous. I realize that this series is under most people’s radar. But I think @Castigear has watched a couple episodes & @LonelyPoet mentioned the manga it is based on. I thought I would see if there’s enough interest to justify a discussion or at least recommend checking it out to my fellow forum members because I’m enjoying it a lot. Here in the US you can find the dub on Funimation (the version I’m following) and the subtitled version on Hulu. Let me know what you think.
  2. This is my dream wrestling game. The game where you create your own Wrestling Federation or Promotion. OWNER MODE: Create an Owner. Create a Federation Create a logo Create a shows Create a PPVs Create championships Create a Rosters Create a Tags or Factions GM MODE: -Daft -Shake up -Trade Choose Championships Manager MODE: Managed 10 superstars to become Legends. You could get Managers' abilities. Referee MODE: Tried your best at being a fair referee or you could go down the heel referee. Wrestler MODE: You are a wrestler. Your goal is to become the Hall of fame. After that you had four options after that. You either become GM or Manager or Referee or retried for good. CREATION MODES: Create a Wrestler Create a Show Create a Promotion Create a Championship Create a Stadium
  3. Hello! I'm Kay but I also go by Blue in some places, like Discord. I actually go by both names there, too, lmao. ANYWAY I enjoy anime, as I'm sure you can guess because I'm here. I also enjoy video games and roleplaying (mostly on Discord or Tumblr). I'm a female so I prefer she/her based pronouns. I'm not too picky about it, however, but yeah. When it comes to anime, I sort of prefer the action/adventure ones with a comedic edge and an unearthly vibe to it, like magic or demons. Just something that isn't purely normal human stuff. With games, I have the same preference and love open world types, such as the infamous Elder Scrolls or Fable. That's it about me for now. As I get to know you guys, I'll likely reveal more about me! ^-^
  4. If you haven't already, go watch Dennou Coil, aka Cyber Coil. It is kind of a fun sci fi about a bunch of kids and the fun they get into while wearing augmented reality glasses. In the real world we're not quite there, yet. Augmented reality in the real world is bounded by things like Pokemon Go and StarChart on smartphones, and Microsoft's HoloLens is still pretty bulky and expensive. Nowhere near the nearly-invisible glasses they wear in Dennou Coil. If you've never seen MSFT's 2015 E3 Hololens minecraft demo you should. Microsoft obviously wants us to go there. They've just announced their Minecraft Earth app (below), which to me looks like a portal, both in a marketing sense and a gaming sense. Clearly - to me anyway - the plan is to get people using the app to build content and attach it to the real world so that when things like Hololens get cheap enough there will already be a rich environment to work with. [mal type=anime id=2164] and Minecraft Earth,
  5. You know, one of the most intriguing things for me - from a Game Master perspective - about the NerveGear in Sword Art Online was that it could read the mental state of the wearer and communicate that back to the game engine. Not talking about just the obvious physical I/O here, but the player's emotional state as well. Imagine giving a save throw modifier based on how emotionally invested the player is in some aspect of the "game". In one episode of the SAO anime's "Aincrad" arc for instance there's a swordsmith character who really, really wants to make a great sword for a specific special customer. Imagine the game engine being able to distinguish that mental state from one where the same smith is just building inventory to sell. Imagine the game being able to tell that the player is aware that they absolutely positively need to make this next bow shot or sword blow count. The Kayaba Akihiko in me could sure find ways to use that information to ah, enhance my players' game experience. Give me a few minutes and I could probably come up with a whole class of magic/psi use dependent on the emotional state of the individuals wielding it for its effects. Or how about a Nerve Gear version of something like Soul Eater? Offhand I can think of several animes where this sort of technology could be put to good(?) use in the game version. Of course the other side of that same coin is the one exploited by Sugou Nobuyuki (aka "Oberon") in the Alfheim arc to brainwash and control people. Fortunately things haven't gone that far in real life. There we (so far) only have to be concerned with the technology being harnessed to do things like maximize micropayment profits... https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/03/valve-software-dreams-of-analyzing-your-brainwaves-to-tailor-in-game-rewards/
  6. Blizzard has apparently (re)released the original, 1996 version of Diablo. Via GOG of all places. For anyone not familiar with GOG (Good Old Games), they're a place to (legally) purchase unrestricted games. None of the games on GOG have DRM or require "activation" or online connection to a mothership or any of that sort of nonsense to play. You buy it, you download it, and you play it. "You bought it, you own it" is their motto. Anyone who's familiar with Blizzard, on the other hand, knows they don't do non-DRM. (Diablo is, currently, the only Blizzard title on GOG.) Ok, so 1996 was a while ago. This is no doubt a last-gasp attempt to get some money from the title. Still, to me it seems quite odd to see a Blizzard title on GOG.. https://www.gog.com/game/diablo (also https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/03/original-diablo-is-now-on-sale-for-10-drm-free-but-not-on-blizzards-app/ )

  9. This is the second entry in a series on how to make your own web manga. Now that you have a story idea we can start expanding it. For the sake of continuity, let’s say my chosen story idea is: We have an idea. Not a story. In its current form, it’s useless. It doesn’t give us much information. We have to take it from concept to actualization. We can do this by adding structure. Basic Story Structure Every good story has a beginning, middle, and end. Think of your favorite movie, book, or anime. They all have that. It’s what separates a good story from a bad one. Stories that don’t follow this tend to be incomplete and confusing. Beginning Takeji is a nerdy highschool boy. He’s quite tall and gets bullied for it constantly. This makes him want to quit school. Middle One day he meets a transfer student named Hayato who is also tall. Hayato shows him an NBA game. This motivates Takeji to learn the sport of basketball. With Hayato’s help he gets ready to try out for his school’s basketball club. End Takeji makes the cut and is accepted into the club. However, he also realizes how far he is from making it into the NBA. He has a lot to improve on first. This was only the first step of his long journey. Try reading this story again but skip the middle part. Confusing isn’t it? Club? What club? He wants to make it in the NBA? But why? I thought he wanted to quit school? Try reading it without the end part. It feels unfinished right? It makes you want to know what happened next. Was that it? That’s the whole story? Did he make his school’s basketball club? What is the “Beginning” for? This is where you do the introductions. Where does your story take place? Show the time period and setting. Reveal the main character and side characters. Give a taste of what people can expect. What is the “Middle” for? This is where you tell your story. This part will be longer than the beginning and end. The climax (highlight) of the story takes place here. The middle is the part that people find the most exciting. What is the “End” for? This is where you wrap things up. And provide a satisfying ending. You can also setup a sequel here. Like what I did in my example. Your story’s message should have already been delivered at this point. Our story idea has now been transformed into a complete story. Albeit a very short story. Next stop is to flesh it out some more.
  10. So there's this guy, "Colonel Cbplayer", who's built actual working mecha fighters based on the Macross franchise using my fav game, Kerbal Space Program. When I say "working" I mean everything, including flying, fighting, and transforming. (Sometimes all at once!) He's even got a video on his youtube channel of the YF19 and YF21 fighting. Pretty insane, especially considering that the base game doesn't have weapons, or even real hinges. I'd love to try this myself, but with the old GPU and FX processor in my system I'd be lucky if I got single-digit frame rates. Not that I have the time for it anyway I guess. This post instigated by a recent Kotaku article... https://kotaku.com/kerbal-space-program-can-do-transforming-macross-fighte-1831242407 His youtube channel is here:
  11. Quick Links Awesome List Naughty List Current Challenges ☆☆☆☆☆ Notice: If you do not read the rules, and post something that breaks one of my rules, you will automatically lose a star. Depending on my mood, I may let you off the hook, just know that I rarely tell people that they dun goof'd. I'll tell you now, being polite and fun usually gets you into my good books General Rules: These rules technically apply to every mode! So what do you do? YOU COME TO ME, KNEEL IF YOU SO DESIRE, AND THEN, YOU ASK ME SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF: "OI! GIMME SUMTHIN' GUD!" And give you something "gud" I shall. Ah but I'd appreciate it if you give me a link to your anime list! If you don't have one, so be it, but just saying, it'll speed up the process of me finding you an anime if I know what you've seen before ^.^ Remember though ol' chaps, this is MY say. You won't have any say in what kind of anime you get, you ask me for something, you get what you get! Simple as that Oh, but I'm not entirely cruel, I'll give you every right to request the following: Sub or dub (UNLESS I SAY TO WATCH ONE SPECIFICALLY, this doesn't happen often.) The length of the anime (I understand some people have less time than others, so if you only have time for 12 episodes, I gotchu.) For the three main modes (Regular, Hardcore, and Insane) you will gain stars by completing the anime that I give you! However you will LOSE stars by dropping the anime before you're allowed to! What's the fun part? Well I'm sure you saw me mention gaining/losing stars! WHEN you acquire at LEAST one star your name will be placed on the awesome list, with one star! The same applies to the naughty list, however that's for people with negative points. If your name is on that list, you will have at least one demerit point, and a large heap of shame. How do you get rid of demerit points? Get stars! How do you lose stars? Get demerit points. (Don't do that) Keep in mind, if you straight-up refuse to watch an anime (for whatever dumb reason) the penalty for "dropping" a show will be doubled. Spooky. Oh, and if you don't update me on whether you're still working away at your challenge within one month of receiving it or previously updating me on your progress, I will consider it a failure, and you will receive appropriate demerit points. To conserve on space: STAAAAR COLOOOOOURS! Soooo what're those? I used generic RPG rarity scale. Almost. 1 star = 1 black star ☆ 5 black stars = 1 green star ☆ 5 green stars = 1 blue star ☆ 5 blue stars = 1 purple star ☆ 5 purple stars = 1 orange star ☆ 5 orange stars = dayum son. So aim to score high! Ah yes, all those nice stars up there? Mind you, the same colour scheme applies to demerit points ('-' ) I will reward stars via chunks of episodes. What do I mean? 1-15 episodes is one chunk. 16-30 is the next chunk. 31-45 is the third chunk, and so on. The actual star values given are explained under each one's actual... explanation ;D I suppose I'll also allow you to BRIEFLY chat about the show you're watching if you have something you'd like to say. Just be sure to put spoilers in spoiler tags. ☆☆☆☆☆ Regular Mode! This is the classic mode! So HOW does THIS mode work? When I give you a recommendation, you watch it! If you complete it you will get your prize! HOWEVER If you drop the anime before COMPLETING episode 5... you will LOSE stars equivalent to however many you would have gained if you had completed it! Of course now you may be thinking "Ay, but what about that moral grey area between after episode 5 and before completion!?" Well meh, nothing happens if you drop it there, if you didn't like it by episode 5, that's fair So lets look at the numbers for a moment shall we? Every 1 to 15 episodes will reward you with 1 star. Every 16 to 30 episodes will reward you with 2 stars! This pattern continues onwards. Which reminds me, you ARE NOT obligated to watch every season of a show that I give to you in this mode, merely the first season. Should you choose to watch any further seasons, I WILL give you stars for them though, and the episode total will simply combine the total of all seasons. Movies are fair game too! Almost always worth only 1 star though, and regular mode is really the only mode you'll ever get a movie. ☆☆☆☆☆ Hardcore Mode THIS MODE IS EXTREME!!! WHY IS IT EXTREME!? BECAUSEYEAH IT'S EXTREME!!! What's the point of this? Well this is for you brave people out there who want ALLLLLL THE STARS!!! In THIS mode, you get DOUBLE THE STARS FOR COMPLETING WHAT I GIVE YOU! But that's not all, you also LOSE DOUBLE WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE LOST BY DROPPING IT!!! Not evil enough? Well I daresay I'm not done here yet, THIS TIME AROUND, YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO DROP THE ANIME I GIVE YOU! If you drop it between episode 0 and the end, you will LOSE stars! Double the loss of course! In addition to this however, in order to get your stars, you will need to provide a 250 word MINIMUM review of the show that you got. As long as it's 250 words, you're good to go, just make sure you don't confuse "review" with "plot summary." The numbers though! Every chunk of episodes will be worth 2 stars! 1-15 is 2 stars, 16-30 is 4 stars, and all that stuff!!
  12. Hey guys! This is my first post so I don't know if I should put this on this tag, please tell me! Like you can read on the title, I'm looking for a very old platform game. I remember only a few things. The game's about a monster (like a little one) who lost his family or was kidnapped, and he had to look for them. You needed to use the arrow keys to play, and the monster was yellow, I think. With a big nose. The music it's very strange, like farts. You had to take care of green bottles full of potion, 'cause if you let the bottle fall next to you it hurts you. There was also hearts you could pick, and the scenario looked like pipelines, tubes, rocks etc. I'm leaving a drawing here. I know I can't draw. I'm serious! It was a very fun game Have a good day
  13. im just asking if anyone heres a fan of danganronpa as its a series i played alot back when i played my vita and i played v3 and that was a really fun time so yeah ^^ who here is into the series
  14. Does anyone have suggestions for manga and anime that my best friend (Jesse) and I could read/watch and review? We've just started up a small blog and would love to expand it with your help! Here's the link if you're interested: diamondsintherough805405419.wordpress.com We've already reviewed: Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan and Immortal Rain so please read these too. They're amazing!
  15. so.. this game allows you to fight with two other characters, there are stages that allows you to fight with controlling giant spaceship and mecha, there's also a house, dormitory mode that allows you to place/arrange appliances and make them, there's also a base mode. there's tons of features and after playing it for few days im actually having a Blast! its probably the best mmo game i played on mobile! it seems cheap pay to win too.
  16. My most favorite game of all time is easily Assassin's Creed, due to the historical events that is within the game which are very interesting, and seeing how they meddle with it is kinda fun.
  17. Okay, so while I was foruming over on Gamefaq's, the forum I use for all things gaming related, I saw this game, survivors. Everybody was playing it with Tekken characters and it was really fun, anyway I thought it was a cool idea so I decided I'd start a game on here. How to play Getting started: Their will be votes held on the comments section to decide which characters will be featured in this game, these characters can only be from anime/manga. Once a single character receives 3 separate votes, they will be included in the game; We will need an even number of characters. (max number of characters: 10 Minimum: 6) Rules: Once the characters have been chosen, they will each start out with 15 points of health. Voters can vote to either hurt or heal characters, thus increasing or decreasing their health. Voting: Forumer's can only vote once per day. They can vote for either, heal or hurt and then the life points will be upgraded or degraded subsequently. Once all the characters are dead except one, that character is the winner. We are voting based on favoritism, you vote for your favorite characters not who would win in a fight or something like that. This game is to determine which of the participating anime characters are the most popular/liked. So, let the character picking start.
