Ryuji
I love math. It's my passion and my major. I desire to teach it one day so I can fill the wonderful young minds of my students with tons of formulas, derivatives, and integrals My personal favorite kind of math is Differential Calculus. I love taking derivatives Also, if you have any math questions up to Integral Calculus (the highest I've taken so far), feel free to ask me! How do y'all feel about math? (aside from the initial hate that most people have for it)
drill
Hm... math is alright. I'm very good at it, but it doesn't exactly excite me unless those numbers are tied to some kinda business variables. I took Calculus in high school which pretty much allowed me to skip all of the math required for my degree. Although, I could probably answer most math questions up to Integral Calculus, I'm probably a bit rusty.
ssjup81
I hate math! I just don't understand it...well high-level math anyway. After being forced to take Trig, I was like "no more!" I barely could pass that. I want to go back to work on my MA, but for the program I want to do, they said I needed at least a B or higher for my math classes as well as science. I could only manage Cs...so they want me to retake the math and science classes. This has deterred me a lot...and is also why I haven't gone back to school. Math and science are holding me back. Also, I'm the type where I don't use something, I lose it. In other words, I don't retain the info. My problem with math is that outside of the basics, you don't use math for everyday situations, like shopping or budgeting. Basic math covers that. I have NEVER used junk like Trig or Calc or Geometry, for example, outside of a classroom setting. I've used Business Math outside of the classroom (calculating sales tax) more than these other types of math I mentioned there. So for me, it just isn't useful...unless you go into a profession that requires it.
SpaWnAge
I am not so good but not so bad either in math, but i dont like them... i must keep telling myself to love them because i use them a lot, but they still kind of painful
Nuh1000
I had a feeling you made this thread smh Well, despite being "Good" at math, or as my friends say. I hate it with a passion
Ryuji
Hm... math is alright. I'm very good at it, but it doesn't exactly excite me unless those numbers are tied to some kinda business variables. I get quite giddy whenever I'm shown something in math that makes things in the past that I just had to accept as truth actually make sense. I remember one day in particular my teacher showed us how a certain formula was derived and I squealed in excitement. Everybody in the class laughed at me xP All 9 of my classmates. What major? My problem with math is that outside of the basics, you don't use math for everyday situations, like shopping or budgeting. Basic math covers that. I have NEVER used junk like Trig or Calc or Geometry, for example, outside of a classroom setting. I've used Business Math outside of the classroom (calculating sales tax) more than these other types of math I mentioned there. So for me, it just isn't useful...unless you go into a profession that requires it. Due to my obsession with math, I'm constantly finding real life applications of trig and Calculus. Whenever I see a round object, my first two thoughts are: "I wonder what the slope of a line tangent to that curve is?" and "I wonder what the area of that curve is?" I then typically proceed to calculate it Whenever I see a triangle of any kind, I start trying to calculate the length of the sides and the area Of course my profession requires it My plan is to be a math teach on a college level. Probably not University though. More like Community College. Whenever I tell somebody that I'm a math major, their face gets contorted and they say, " WHY????" I just love math! Ryuji
@Ryuji I have the ultimate math question! What is...! 9+10?!?!???!?!?!?? Hmmmm so you have √(3⁴)+ 5(2) which equals 19 The square root of 3 raised to the 4rth power plus (5 times 2) equals

RyePotatoes
Math is okay. I'm okay with my scores about it. Altho i kinda hate the fact of thinking about solutions and calculating things. And a matter of fact I don't have any kind of reason why we should learn Algebra. That branch of math really pisses me off. I mean, in a shop would they even say "Sir your change is 2x+6b-9d." Jeez. Sinister~
Math? I don't particularly hate it like history nor do I love it like Chemistry....I'm okay at it, I guess unless I was sleepy and made careless mistakes. I did that once. The mistakes costed me 10 marks :'(
LingeRay
I thought I smelled evil in this section... Math is indeed to essential to almost everything in life. You're more likely to score a well paying career as someone that's good at math than a musician or something. I am not good at math by any means, so this means that I've SO MUCH to look forward to in life. Joyous. And I have great dislike for math, primarily because of my inability to grasp it as quickly as anything else. Makes me feel like an idiot, and I tend to dislike anything that reminds me of how unintelligent I am.
Ryuji
Math isn't evil....It's Glorious! Ummmm music has math in it xP Just because you don't get math doesn't make you an idiot. Math is extremely hard.
SanguineTear
I feel like there needs to be something between love and hate... that's where I'd be~ It depends on the sort of math really though. When it comes to applying math to things relevant to me, I love it. Operations Management is actually enjoyable to me. But as far as math in terms of Calculus and Trigonometry go, I'll pass. Pokii
Math is somehow the least favorite subject in my school. I don't know why... I'm opposite to those people and I liked Math because it's only subject that I can get over 85 or above.
Evil Bunny of Doom
oh mah gawd Ryu-san... the last thing I'd expect to see in a forum about anime is freakin math.. If I have a tiny, unimportant amount of evil stored in my tiny, fluffy body, then math is the ultimate evil lord!!! I used to like math back in middle school when I could understand it BUT THEN THEY RUINED MY LIFE (ok,not my life... just my grades) It's not that I hate maths, I'm just super annoyed I lost it at some point and during my 3 years in high school I couldn't understand a thing

FSL29
well its better than the others I think. I mean if I had to choose my best subject, I would say math without hesitation, simple reason I dont really like remembering stuff Im not interested with(biology and physics is an example) .
