Who's into Baseball?

Recommended Posts

I got into Baseball by watching anime. But still know nothing about the rules. Can someone clear a question I have?

That depends on what the question is.  Spill it.

Cool. So in Cross Game, they says 'when the best hitter batting throw 4 balls and walk him. Even the catcher stand up and extend his arm to catch the ball. So is this legal in major leagues? Or are there any rules to avoid this happening?

You see it happen a lot.  It's perfectly legal to "throw" a hitter.  Sometimes it's best to let the go-ahead runner get to first with a chance of throwing him out at second or third, rather than to risk him going deep.

Thank You. 😃 So, isn't that make the crowd less happy? Like let's imagine, theatrically there is a perfect guy who can home run for every possible pitch. But this way he will never have a chance to hit the ball.

Of course, but it's a legitimate strategy.  It happens quite a bit, actually.  While I get that for most people - they could see a sport as theatrics, a sport is a sport - and many players do take the game seriously.  It is much better in some cases to sacrifice a walk to first rather than a scoring point.

Got it. Thanks for the help. 😃
