Question

Autumn/Fall is my favorite season & I love Halloween. Also supernatural is one of my favorite genres when it comes to anime. So, thought I would take this opportunity to list some of my favorite and me that fit the mood this time of year:

Soul Eater (shounen/action)
Hellsing Ulltimate (horror/blood & gore)
Shiki (horror/suspense)
Mushishi (supernatural/philosophical)
Higurashi: When They Cry (also Kai, Gou, Sotsu) (curse/torture & murder)
Dorohedoro (dark humor/graphic violence)
The Ancient Magus Bride (fantasy/romance)
Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun (shonen/comedy)
Little Witch Academia (also The Enchanted Parade & TV series) (adventure/comedy)
Princess Resurrection (harem/horror movie tropes)
XXXHolic (supernatural/cautionary tales)
Ushio & Tora TV series (shonen/supernatural)
Kakurenbo (supernatural/suspense)

So, anyone care to share your own Halloween favorites or comment on any that I mentioned?

I don't really have Halloween favorites and horror definitely isn't my genre in the first place but if we're talking spooky stuff then how about adding:

Another

Karadasagashi

Jigoku Shoujo (aka Hell Girl)

and of course a little zombie now and then is relished by the wisest men* so maybe

Highschool of the Dead

Gakkougurashi (School Live)

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress)

Other anime that come to mind would be Sankarea, Corpse Party, Shikabane Hime, Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, and a lot of the Yamishibai stories.

(*apologies to Dahl)

Mononoke is one of my favorites to watch around this time. Genre: Ghost Stories, Mystery, Psychological Horror.

Monster is another. Genre: Crime, Mystery, Psychological Thriller.

The Obluda in Monster has a great Autumn theme within the village. Though I appreciate that Monster is generally eerie and unnerving without a lot of gore or mythos to play on. 🎃
