I had no idea this guy was only  two when wwii began! The violence and trauma he experienced probably inspired him to create the Yamamoto series, which is named after the real Japanese ship. It was adapted into a three season, two movie English series called Star Blazers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Blazers I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve read about it, and it’s sounds awesome! I like reading, especially about movies or tv shows that I may not have the time to see.

He also created the Galaxy Express 99 films. Like the Ghost in the Shell, humans in the series transfer their consciousness to machines, achieving virtual immortality.

Oh shit that sucks. I watched the original Star Blazers, remake of the first and second seasons, and currently working my way though Galaxy Express 999 in an effort to get into the Lejiverse.

I am not none gnome !! >:(

The art style of his works where always one of the best parts, super iconic and nostalgic

leiji matsumoto universe | Space pirate captain harlock, Captain ...

Also I remember watching this video about his inspiration in creating Harlock and that stuff hit hard, about his dad in the war and how that had affected him and his worldview which is demonstrated in Harlock and Galaxy Express which I can't help but agree with. the Idea of living by your own morals and fighting for what you believe in.

If I find the video I'll post a link as it very informative.

Well I'll have to make it a point to finish up Galaxy Express soon and watch some of his other works
