Nebulous
Have you ever been on a forum without any rules at all? Was it a den of trolls? How did they manage the chaos?

In a word, no. 37 minutes ago, Nebulous said: Was it a den of trolls? Probably. 38 minutes ago, Nebulous said: How did they manage the chaos? Dunno. Without any rules, it would naturally degenerate into an orgie of slander, blackmail, doxxing, swatting, and explicit threats of bodily harm to the participants. Not a pretty sight. Digimon_Sommelier
Oh, there were rules. The mods just didn't care. Just build a rival site.

The closest I've been to a forum without rules were Usenet News Groups. The majority of which have no moderators, and yes there were trolls, but curiously, at least in the groups I was in, the members had a common agreement on what was acceptable behaviour. Trolls, sock puppets and the like were quickly called out and the error of their ways explained to them, if they persisted everyone just ignored them and eventually they got bored and went away.

Yes. Then they made rules about all the hentai we were posting because parents couldn't be bothered to monitor their own kids and got the government involved. Le sigh.
