Is anime really for kids??

There are many anime rated PG-13 and up, so no. Some anime are not for kids. Although, there are some which are kid-shows. For example, "Doraemon".

I think it depends on which anime. Not ALL.

It's going to depend entirely on WHAT anime we are talking about. Some anime is made for kids sure, Pokemon, Digimon, etc, nothing wrong with a kid watching these. Other anime definitely shouldn't be viewed by kids. As already said though that's why there is ratings for anime like any other TV show and little kids shouldn't be watching anime rated PG-13, 16+, MA, etc. There is all different types of anime, so anime can really be for any age group and there's nothing wrong with younger kids watching age-appropriate animes.

When people say the anime is for children, it is likely coming from a place of ignorance. They think that, because a series is animated, than it is a children’s show. They likely do not understand that anime is largely for an older audience (at least teenagers). There are certainly anime that exists that are appropriate for/aimed at children. Let’s not pretend otherwise. But, there is definitely a difference. The best way I can explain how anime is not always for children is: “Ya know how you like Breaking Bad or Yellowstone?, anime is similar in the stories but it’s animated instead”.

Anime is for everyone I've always believed. When coming to children there are anime for that age range, sure, plenty of them. However, most anime seem more geared toward the teenage age range and older in my opinion. A lot of it seems more for age 13 and up.

There are some situations and scenes in a lot of anime such as thinking about fan service scenes or hinted sexual scenes that probably are not meant for really young people to be seeing. People who don't have knowledge of anime might say anime is meant for kids because they've never seen it and just only know it's cartoon in style and think cartoons automatically equal to something be for kids only.

Anime is a form of media, like live TV, books, audio etc. As with all of them, it can be aimed at different target demographics. Likewise, it can include content that children should not be viewing.

Anyone thinking animated = for kids should watch some of the western animated shows such as the Simpsons, Family Guy etc.

Not all anime is appropriate for children just like not all western movies or shows are appropriate for children.

Some of it isn't right for kids to watch I agree with that but if you're older then it doesn't really matter. Some anime is directed at younger audiences when you talk about ones like Pokemon or Sailor Moon type of shows probably but there's also nothin wrong with someone watching those at any age too if they like em.

You have to ask this in non anime forums or those people who arent expose in cartoon/anime type shows like your parents and grand parents and expect an opposite answers!
