A New Star is Born...

Hello everyone! My name is Shawn, and I really enjoy Japanese media! Especially anime!

I recently decided to come back to the anime forum scene, only to realize that my homeland, zOMG Anime, was long gone (the website doesn't even exist anymore). So I did some shopping around, and finally decided to join this lovely forum. The deciding factor? The default Hyperdimension Neptunia theme, of course!

Here's some "interesting" information about myself:

- I'm a 5th year super-senior at the University of North Texas

- I've been studying the Japanese language for over two years now

- My favorite video game series is Hyperdimension Neptunia (though I've only played Re;Birth 1 and 2)

- I really enjoy the Dynasty Warriors and Armored Core video game series

- I have a really hard time picking favorites, so my list of "favorite anime" is about 50 titles long

- I hope to become an Assistant Language Teacher with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program after I graduate in 2017 (that's right, I'll be a super-duper senior!)

I honestly can't say how active I'll be able to be this semester, since my classes don't start until Tuesday, but I'll try and log in at least once a day! I apologize in advance if my noobiness wastes anyone's time. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hello and welcome to Anime Forums! I hope you enjoy your time here!

Our founder, @Optic, is a huge Hyperdimension Neptunia fan so yeah :P

Do you have any favorite anime?

Thanks! I hope so too.

I do have many favorite anime! I tend to lose track of them, so I'm not able to list them all at once, but they include shows like Steins;Gate and AnoHana, to Legend of the Galactic Heroes, to Ouran High School Host Club, and of course classics like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Yay, another Hyperdimension Neptunia fan.

Ooh very nice. Are you aiming for any of the JLPT levels by any chance?

Ah yes, the JET program. I hear it's very compeititve. I hope you are successful when the time comes. :)

Woo! I hope this site continues to attract our kind, hehe.

Yeah! My end goal is to pass the N1 exam before 2020, but I think I might settle for N3 this next round. I honestly have no idea to expect, but I am sense a definite need to learn more kanji. Do you have any experience with the JLPT?

Thank you! I hear that only 1 person gets picked up from UNT a year, so I am a little concerned. But my Japanese professor seemed pretty confident in me, so I'm definitely going to give it a shot! And there's always other programs with companies like Interac.

Hello, welcome aboard ^_^ I hope you'll enjoy the forums

Thank you! I hope so as well!

On an unrelated note, there's something really familiar about your username, but I have no idea where else I would have seen you. Ah well. :P

Welcome to AF, Thermidor! Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Have any favorite genres of music?

Thank you!

I'm not that big into music (really weird, I know), so I can't really say. I'm pretty sure I like most forms of alternative music, though. Can't be too certain, however, as my exposure has been pretty minimal. I tend to enjoy anime music though. My favorite artist (also the only artist that I can truly say I'm a fan of) is KOKIA, and I enjoy about 90% of her work. In fact, well over 90% of my limited music library is stuff by KOKIA.

Hello and welcome to the forum , Yuuki desu , I hope you enjoy it here :P

Do you have a favorite genre of anime ?

Thank you, Yuuki!

I wouldn't say that I do have a favorite genre. :0 I think I enjoy most, except for the kind of anime that regularly gets rated 6 or below on MAL (like most magical girl anime). Generally speaking, I like emotional anime. This can be anything as intense as AnoHana, to something as fun as One Piece (which has emotional backstories for most characters).

I don't have an account anywhere else with this username :P

Oh! Well then, I have no idea why I thought that, haha. Sorry!

I see , you like anime with a strong story , have you seen HxH , Nana or Usagi Drop ? all brilliant anime though HxH is a small LRS with somewhere between 100 and 200 episodes (I can't remember exactly how many...).

I have seen HxH (the new one), and it was amazing! I haven't seen Nana or Usagi Drop, but if you're putting them in the same league as HxH then I'll have to take a look! Gotta build up a backlog for the coming summer break, too. Thanks for the recommendations!

Welcome to AF Thermidor. I hope you have fun and enjoy your stay. :)

Thank you! :D
