Worst book(s) you read?

What was/were the worse book or books you have read?

For me, there are two, which are The Whistler, which was the first title somebody requested me to review when I got started on Patreon, and The Book Thief, which I linked to in the link I have listed in this post.

I am not going to go over why I hated either one, since my thoughts have already been expressed in my reviews, but I would like it if you all would give your reasons, or if you wrote a review of it that still presents your present thoughts of it, you can link to them like I did.

Hmmm... I don't think that there are any books that I dislike, oddly enough. Probably because I am not passionate about them and therefore don't have strong preferences towards books and just consume. But if I had to nitpick, maybe comics that try to be funny but fail lmao.

I will not argue there with you. Those are terrible and irritate me too.

I can't stand the 50 Shades books. They're simply awful. It's like reading a young teen's diary that has just discovered sex and doesn't understand what healthy relationships are yet.

The writing is just trash, the story is garbage.

I unfortunately read all three of them, ugh

Once upon a time, one of my cousins and I spent a particularly close summer together (I was probably 13, she was 14.) Now my cousin is a bit of an oddball; she's into things like nude beaches and vintage Honduran cigars. We were spending a day inside because it was storming and she suddenly hands me this book and tells me to read it. Well, I always trusted her to have good taste, so I took it with me and dug into it.

Ohhhh boy.

See the book horrified me, but I had a code of honour back then and decided to stick with it until the end in order to give her some fair feedback, which she seemed to want badly. Several times I considered putting the book down. It was just downright the most cringiest thing I have ever seen. The book was called 'Lost Souls' and it was by Poppy Z. Brite. I don't think even a brief summary of the events of that book would be proper here, but I'm certain that information can be found elsewhere on the internet. I was left at the end feeling very confused and a bit disturbed, and knowing I had just read perhaps the most tacky piece of literature our generation had to offer.

I'll say this til the day I die, don't read that book. It actually is that bad. I suspect the author was on drugs.

I just looked it up on Amazon, and the summary and blurbs alone seem to be as irritatingly disgusting as you make it seem to be.

People think that anime/manga fans are perverts, but that seemed worse than anything I saw in the manga I have read or anime I seen.

I've read naughtier

I understand xD

I will be honest, I love monster musume, although i'm not sure if you would count manga as a "Book" more then a comic.

Actually, that's a quick question, does manga count in this or no?

I was more of referring to regular books, since standalone manga is not all that common, but I have no problems with it, so I will allow it.

The worst books I've ever read...hmm...let's see... well, I hated Narnia by C.S. Lewis.:P:P I tried to read the first story but I felt bored of it. Then there's Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome.:P:P It makes no sense to a kid my age. First few minutes and- slam! The book's shut and I'm searching for Percy Jacksons or Magnus Chases or any other teen novels. Those are my opinions. But the others might like it. So you might wanna give it a try.:):)

I see. That makes sense. I do read stuff meant for teens too, but many of them released today have not been impressive, simply because the human characters do not feel real or what is present is not believable, even for the world being delivered.

I read teen novels which have been released in the 21st century, which makes it okay for me if they're released in 2005 or before that. But even though Magnus Chase was released in 2016, it's still so good that you're gonna cry and laugh, laugh a lot. Like that part when Jack sings his own version of "Shake It Off" by Taylor- sorry. No spoilers. You might wanna check it out. I think it's awesome.:):):):)

Might have to, if I ever get the money. I will have some to spare this month, but I was planning to take a break from reading, at least for review purposes, and get more anime reviews done.

I've liked, or at least put up, with almost ever book I've ever read. (And I've read a LOT)

Although, I did read this one book called, "The Hatchet", which was an award winning book. I found it utterly boring and in no way, at all, even interesting in the slightest, nor fun to read. It also wasn't very informative and pretty much just revolved around sitting in a cave a whimpering about bugs ... I usually love survival books, even nonfiction ones, but this one was written in such a way that you didn't care if he survived, and the whole thing was just dull.

Now, I never went through the, "vampire crazed tween" faze, and therefore, I had no interest in reading or seeing Twilight, so that's just what I did: Not read or watch it.

I did end up seeing the movies later on and I thought they were good, not really my kind of movie, but still ... They weren't absolutely horrible.

Now, I do have a younger Sister who is currently in the vampire faze, so I did get the chance to read over her shoulder and see just how disturbingly horrible the books are.

I mean, it's absolutely mind boggling to think of a reason these books sold a single copy ... They're utter rubbish!

I'm sure I've read some other horrible books but I don't waste memory on those things.

I saw one movie, and hate how unoriginal the vampires felt, but it definitely was not bad.

Many works today are like that to me, not just the vampire stuff, but I am glad that the only vampire story I read was Dracula, and that was not completely satisfying either. I guess vampire stuff is not really for me.

Hate to do a typical answer, but Twilight, 50 shades of Gray and even really, Hunger Games could all qualify. If I can't bring myself to finish the book I'm reading, it's down at the bottom, and that rings true for all of these series.

I kind of liked Hunger Games, but I can understand your reasoning, especially since I do not think I can enjoy books like it anymore.

Well I haven't read it, but Twilight is awful. A good friend of mine whom I trust dared to read it and being a writer herself was so appalled she about set the book on fire. Stephen King also despises the book and that man, oh, I trust. I've heard enough of it to know. Hunger Games is another one that I cannot stand, and as for 50 Shades of Gray, oh my God, look as someone who is part of the BDSM Dom/Sub community, this book is a dangerously ill-representation of our community, and I think the writer should pay a fine for how terrible it is. Personally, it's just porn for desperate, lonely housewives who know nothing.

As for a book I have read that I absolutely cannot stand is "Lord of the Flies". It is the most groan-worthy book. I get what the writer was going for but it was executed poorly, and not even halfway through the book, I wanted everyone to die. I just didn't care about any of the characters. With the way they were written, it was hard to.
