Watching Persona 5 The Animation before playing the game?

As per title - would that be a missed opportunity?

I played Persona 4 on the Vita and thoroughly enjoyed it before I finally dived into both Persona 4: The Animation and Persona 4 the Golden Animation - both which I REALLY loved!

Should I wait until I start and finish playing Persona 5 before diving into the animation adaptation?

I would yes to that question. Persona 5 the animation is pretty good, but naturally it's going to skip out on some of the story beats and all the relationship building that makes Persona 5 such a great game. The animation so far seems like it's more for fans who played the game than it is for people who are experiencing Persona 5 for the first time.

As someone who has played the game in full, ABSOLUTELY play the game first. By any means necessary.

I've been looking into the animation and it seems incredibly lackluster in comparison, watching the anime first would only spoil the plot of the fantastic game.
