50 Shades Of Rant (literally ranting) *SPOILERS*

Recommended Posts

Am I honestly the only one who actually understands and likes this series (the books and films)? I read and hear from so many people screaming that Christian is abusive to Ana and because of that they instantly hate the movie. Otherwise you have the other group that are literally fangirlling over the series because of the "intense" sex scenes.

Yes, I'll agree Christian is very abusive to Ana but Ana knows this! What she is trying to do is understand him and where he comes from while also trying to help him. I can't be the only one who sees this?

Just think of it, a lot of us have had terrible pasts (some of us were also sexually abused) and it still effects us in some way today. As for myself I have never physically abused any of my past relationships or my current one but I can say I have been rather emotionally abusive at times. The man I am engaged to understands this as I've told him before we ever went out that I can be rather mean but because of what happened to me in the past it has contributed to why I am like I am today and that makes me harder to deal with. I have PTSD, anxiety and depression. Most days I don't even love myself but my fiancee works with me and that's one of the many reasons why I love him...

Anyway, maybe it's just because of the way I am/was, whatever that I have a different view point on this series. I don't fully know, except that this series isn't as terrible as a lot of people make it out to be.

I've never read these books nor have I ever seen the films, but I can understand why some people would be put off by a character like Gray. I don't know much, but he does seem to have boundary issues and come across as partially stalkerish. I mean, he put money into her bank account without her, to my knowledge (and if I'm wrong, please correct me), ever giving him that very private information. He also seemed to have a thing on keeping tabs on what she eats for a while, doesn't he?  I think it's stuff like that, that causes people not to care for or like characters like Gray.

Anyway, you are right about people who have been abused have suffered some effects from it, although it does affect everyone in different ways.

I know for me, I've just never had an interest in this series since it's supposedly a raunchy romance and for the most part, I'm not really into romance or the raunchy stuff much. I don't mind romance if it's more secondary.

Oh I also think people turn away from this series because of the fact that it's supposedly just a bad Twilight fanfiction and many people didn't like Twilight.

People also turn away because the 50 shades books/movies are basically pornography.

I am glad you see something in it @EnviousEnvy no matter what other people think of it, it doesn't matter; I have not watched nor read the book except for a skim at one point when I found it at a resale shop and I do understand why many people dislike it but also why many people like it. Yes it is bashed a lot but who cares? You shouldn't care what other people say about it, you have a legitimate reason to like it and that is great. When we can connect emotionally with something it doesn't matter what others think, that's not something we just throw away, you are amazing and you needn't feel useless; no human being is worthless or useless, everyone is to be cherished.

It's definitely not even close to being anything like porn. If people seriously think this then they haven't watched porn before. Just because you see boobs and a scene or two of sex does not make a book/movie porn.

Check out the Ivy movie series if people think 50 Shades is porn. Ivy is literally about a woman having sex with people and then kills them. Literally every other scene is sex and even that isn't in the porn category.

Otherwise if you want to see a movie that is considered porn but still has a plot check out The Witches of Breastwick. About a group of witches who sleep with men to gain power. Every scene has sex in it, lol.

I actually agree. I have watched two of the movies and I don't see what anyone is complaining about.

I have heard parts of the book read aloud and it's really not all that bad, and have read similar books

Thing is, it deals with a lot of topics people would rather judge than make a informed decision on, and obviously anything to do with the

BDSM COMMUNITY

people are going to judge instantly.

People should really try to understand something before jumping to conclusions.

The Twilight movies weren't bad but the books annoyed the heck out of me (simply because the first chapter of the first book all Bella complained about was her appearance and nothing else). Otherwise the movies were good.

As for 50 Shades Of Grey I loved the movies and the books were decent (the movies were better in my opinion). However even though it was originally a Twilight fan fiction I honestly didn't see how, lol.

The only problems I see are:

1.) Women fangirling over Christian Grey and instantly thinking they are all of a sudden into BDSM... Christian was/is abusive to his women and what he does is considered extremely wrong even in the BDSM community.

2.) And people who think 50 Shades is anything like porn. You see what? 2 or 3 scenes of her naked and it's just of her chest and 2 scenes of sexual content. If that's the case then Game Of Thrones is porn because literally every other scene has nude and it shows everything including the male genitalia unlike 50 Shades, lolol.

1.) Exactly, there are a lot of rules in the BDSM community, and the way christian acted was wrong. But it's a story and not everyone is perfect.

2.) Yeah, game of thrones is way way way worse.

Right? I was like, "Come on man. I want to see something." I was really hoping it would of been more detailed in that area since I mean, it was supposed to have BDSM in it. It was more wham, bam, thank you mam. 😂😂 I'll just go back to watching Game Of Thrones...

I have yet to see season 7!!!  😮😮😮 *Hides in shame*

And I also need to get onto watching The 100 Season 4.

I'm so far behind now that I've started working lol

I can barely keep up with anime anymore as well.

Anyway, slightly related to the topic...

I've always noticed, but it seems like in movies and in TV they are always scared to show male nudity

Like, I mean, growing up and realising I'm gay I've always noticed this in movies an TV, and I've always wondered if it's a marketing thing like

"Hey, Straight white males won't watch this if we put dicks in it!!!"

And yet they forget the straight female population and the gay community.

It's kinda the same with video games too, but thankfully they are getting more inclusive now. slowly.

Lol, just random thoughts!!!

I think it's more the fact that most males don't want to show off their penis to the world (because apparently size does count to some women so most men are fearful they aren't big enough. Although in my opinion it's not the size but what you do with it, lol). And honestly I don't understand why men are afraid to see another penis. It's only sexual if you fantasize about having sex with it, lol (in my opinion anyway).

Anyway, yeah you need, NEED to watch it! Omg, I can't wait til the next season! *screams*

Actually, I figured it was due to our having a hetero-male biased world. Most guys don't want to see naked dudes. Women have been subjected to being "sex objects" for centuries now, so it's expected for them to be shown off as such in certain mediums.

True but you also don't see much of women with the exception of their breasts unless they are really hairy or are in porn you don't see their vaginal region either (honestly even though I'm pansexual I don't particularly want to see a lot of those simply because some of them look like they have teeth that could eat a man's junk 🤣🤣).
