Soramee_
I’ve played nearly every hour of the beta of the new SAO game, sword art online fractured daydream, and it’s amazing. It’s really really fun and has a lot of potential. There are some things that aren’t good enough but it’s to be expected of a beta like that. This is basically what I sent to the devs (I wrote a lot lol): I’m pretty sure the devs teams is gonna fix these problems but I will point out everything I saw. Agil needs more tank skill and a better taunt. Leafa needs more support skills/healing skills. It’s very difficult to see the enemy health-bar when playing, especially on close quarter combat characters like Argo and kirito. Weak points are too hard to hit for pretty much every character except sinon or leafa where it’s a lot easier (flying and aiming) which in turn makes the “side quest” appearing during a battle boss about dealing the most damage to the weak point or dealing the most damage way easier for them and nearly impossible for others. There is no way to know which characters need healing as there are always action and that a lot of players use the same characters (a color indicator going from green to red on the player could help for characters like leafa). The weak point hit boxes are too small to the point where it’s random when you hit their weak point. Attributes that serves nothing to weapons appears way too much, example: fire weakness on a light weapon. Boss move a bit too much making it really painful to hit their weak point and not their resist point. No player rank rewards (probably just a beta thing and you will add them when the game releases). Upgrading weapons/accessory unnecessary unless you have a legendary. When there is suppose to be a character talking a white box with text box showing “…” with no voice appears instead. Characters have skills that do the same thing but deal less damage or just skill that can do 1500 damage with nothing else and another skill able to do 8000 and able to hit multiple targets (Argo). Argo’s unique skill being way too situational and weak, especially in boss battles. Leafa healing is way too low compare to what enemies can do (same for kirito’s unique skill but not as much). Attacks being executed on the spot and not making the character move a bit toward the targeted ennemies makes it so a lot of skills and attacks do nothing for example: when holding heavy attack with kirito and attacking a flying ennemy in the air then doing right after multiples light attacks to deal more damage to it in the sky, most of theses strikes except the last will actually do any damage because the ennemy would have move a tiny bit farther after the heavy attack. No incentive to clear more mobs or open more chest in coop quest because you can get all the exp you need doing quest and because the loot you get from chest gets you nearly nothing or you can just get them when doing quest. For example most people would just do every quest even if under levels because they can easily level up from these stronger monster, especially on the tower quest where players would just defeat the level 23 enemies to get a lot of exp then complete it after. As such, the kobold boss fight gets very easy where it’s defeated in mere minutes if everyone gangs up on the boss to deal damage. Sinon making more damage near the ennemies makes her pistol worthless as it does less damage than her sniper when close to the enemies. Also Sinon sniper making more damage up close doesn’t help her at all since she is supposed to hit from far away and not from up close. I can understand that going closer to the enemies makes more challenge but it really doesn’t help her kit and her character/playstyle. Going up close near the danger is more of kirito’s job or Argo’s job. You can take for example how melee dps and ranged dps acts in final fantasy 14. Ranged dps deal the most damage and are forced to stay close to the enemies, resulting in them needing to evade most of the ennemies attack, while the ranged dps can safely deal damage while being more consistent. Basically melee dps (kirito) = more damage but higher risk, while ranged dps (Sinon) = less damage but less risk and consistency in damage. Maybe don’t do something too similar but this is just and idea or a way of thinking that could be good. Except that keep what you are doing dev team, the game is so fun I got addicted to the beta test to the point where I played all of the time allowed for it and can’t wait to play more. It might not be the SAO mmo I always wanted but this game definitely has immense potential. It’s really really fun. And of course you don’t have to listen to everything I wrote but I hope you will at least give it a chance. Ty very much. -a huge fan of SAO

I guess it's a lot like Genshin if I had to compare it to a popular game.

efaardvark
I had a free evening so I decided to go a bit out on a limb and grab the most recent dev versions of the Distant Horzons mod, Iris, and the latest version of the "Bliss" shader. (Bliss is a modified version of Chocapic and one of the first to be able to work well with distant horizons.) I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. This stuff is coming along nicely. If you had shown me these pics a couple years ago I'd never have believed it was Minecraft. A few visual glitches still, but pretty solid even at alpha and pre-alpha github-latest-at-your-own-risk level. By the time all this gets to official releases it's going to be awesome. efaardvark
I finally got all my minecraft mods dialed in and working the way they should. Or at least as good as it's likely to get on my hardware. (Though having said that I see in this pic that java is using all of its allocation of memory. I might try bumping that up a bit. I've got 32G in the system so setting it to 4 or even 8GB wouldn't be a problem.) Screenshot taken while on an early morning exploration and mapping expedition .... I do that kind of thing a lot too.. just play an easy game like stardew valley or minecraft and veg. Or I'm a builder so I'll often do something like get into the VAB (vehicle assembly building) in KSP where there's no time limits or anyone shooting at you and just goof off designing things. People keep mentioning Stardew Valley to me, I think I need to see what this game is about lol I used to like to play a lot of building games but just the phone building games where you build cities and things, I always found that to be a lot of fun and stress-free. SV is (quite) a bit like the early Rune Factory / Harvest Moon series, if you know those. If you like city building then I can recommend Cities:Skylines. I was a big SimCity fan until EA drove me off. If you like that sort of thing then C:S is very similar. I haven't found time to play C:S2 yet but I played the heck out of the first one. Both are on Steam.

I have some time the next upcoming week to play a new game so I am going to check into it. Oh wow the trailer of this Cities: Skylines game looks amazing. efaardvark
Did some exploration of a large cold ocean biome. Not ready to tackle that yet.. .. but I did find a geode perfectly placed at the bottom of the ocean. If you find one like this, strip off the basalt, calcite, and uncracked amethyst, and just leave the cracked blocks for the amethyst clusters to grow on. That makes harvesting the shards super easy, especially if you have a high-efficiency pick and/or the aqua affinity buff. efaardvark
What is it with deckbuilder games on steam these days? (aka "roguelike", eg. Slay the Spire.) Seems like suddenly I'm seeing a new one every time I browse Steam. If I search for "roguelike" I get 11,000 hits. (Which is kinda annoying if I'm trying to find old-school Rogue-like games such as the original Rogue, Angband, Moria, etc.) Are they really that popular? Somebody must have figured out how to make money with them.
efaardvark
Browsing around on Steam & found The Crust. Looks to be a builder game but space-based. Might be something I could get into. Not yet released but something I'll keep my eye on.

Zeref
Today I started to play a game I played a long time ago called Wakfu. It is an MMORPG game I found again on Steam. Like most MMORPG you pic a class of character and level up through quest and fighting monster. You can level up equipment and obtain pets or do a job. Something to keep my mind from being too bored.

I played also Dofus before but preferred Wakfu to it.
