Spring 2018 Thoughts

If you've been keeping up with this season, what were your thoughts on the season as a whole?  Did you find many favorites, or was the season kinda bland?

 

For me, I'd have to say that Steins;Gate 0 and SAO Alternative really overshadowed a lot of the other shows, so I didn't really give them much of a chance.  SAO Alternative is alright, but Steins;Gate 0 really did well in living up to the first season imo.  Overall, kinda looking forward to this season being over and seeing what next season has to offer.

It was an alright season, but certainly not fantastic. Steins;Gate is still going really strong, and is thoroughly enjoyable, and a couple of other shows like Megalo Box and Hinamatsuri are keeping pace (although screw Hina, Anzu for girl of the year!).

There have also been some great hidden gems in Layton (a pretty good mystery series that allows you to actually work out most of the mysteries yourself), and Hisone to Maso-tan (How to Train Your Dragon, but they're planes, and it's in the Made in Abyss potato artstyle, and there's good romance).

Talking about romance, Wotakoi has been great, and we've really enjoyed 3D Kanojo too. Tanaka-kun just doesn't do anything for us though. It's just too silly to be taken seriously as a romance, but not funny enough to be considered a comedy. It's just in this weird limbo.

Because we kind of legally have to complain about it, we're now going to talk about WIXOSS. Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS is bad. Lostorage as a whole is bad. How did something as good as Selector Infected/Spread WIXOSS get that bad? There have been so many asspulls and completely nonsensical things, and even complete contradictions. The villain has shown off incredible powers, and then proceeded to never use them again, about half of the characters have done literally nothing of significance at all, and they sent a random girl in against the final boss instead of the canonically strongest person in the anime, who already has a stake in the matter because her friend was effectively imprisoned by the boss. We still watched it though, because it's WIXOSS. If any ofyou are interested in the series, definitely watch Selector, but don't touch anything named Lostorage with a 10 ft. bargepole.

Back to the good sides, SAO Alternative is miles better than SAO. LLENN is so much better than Kirito.

Yeah, I ended up dropping Lostorage during episode 1.  Really just couldn't get into it like Selector.  Although thinking about it, never did actually finish watching season 2 of Selector for some reason.

Yep, completely agree there.

Although, to be honest, M and Pito going crazy was what was starting to bring the show down for me.  Fortunately, they haven't had too much screen time since.
