Lands of....

Title: Lands of...

In the sun-dipped lands of yore,

there stood a boy,

to whom life found friendship a chore,

a small boy, weak and alone,

bastard son of a whore, not heir to a throne,

yes a bland lad, alone, cold to the bone, mad,

a glad lad, a life's wish never had,

and as this boy stood,

on those sun-dipped hills,

looked down upon by his fathers kills,

down upon by those slain, blood-rain celebrated,

under the table of enemies relegated,

he said to himself, "Woe is me? Shan't I see my own glory?"

and from this mere saying, a frivolous thought,

came a dark disposition, encouragement to the town haunt,

fathers, mothers, loving and true,

scorned children, though who ever knew?

Closed eyes forced by cut-tongues,

suffer now all, wrath's fiery tongs,

breast-fed and raised, uncaring now, dead and razed,

is it better now? Are you better now? "Am I better now?"

Taught and consulted, fraught with bruises assaulted,

unuttered moans turn all to bones,

unuttered moans cast down all thrones,

pity dies and so does the soul, though separately? No.

Inside the furnace had they dwelt, till kiln and pump could keep no longer,

till furnace fattened plump, could without room not smoulder,

till demons hid inside could human soul no longer shoulder,

if only humanity could have been bolder,

in the blood-drenched lands of future...
