Optic
I've chosen a 5 day training course as my PD course this year as I wanted to better learn about Windows 8 from a support perspective (since I work in IT at work). Specifically the course is 20687D - Configuring Windows 8.1. I'm curious what your thoughts are on Windows 8 in general: Are you currently using it? If not have you or are you considering moving to it sometime this year? If you are using it, how are you finding it? Personally I'm still using Windows 7 myself at home, I chose the Windows 8 course as they're not really offering Windows 7 courses anymore due to lack of demand (which is of course understandable). drill
I am currently using Windows 8 on my desktop. For the most part, its pretty stable, and gets the job done. Also, the tiles aren't that bad once you get used to them; in fact, I don't think I'll switch over to Win10 (which goes back to the standard start menu) when it comes out just because I'm so used to Win8 and I have a feeling that things are probably going to be broken for the first release (pretty much how they had to have a windows 8, 8.1, and 8.1 update 1) However, if all my steam games worked on a Ubuntu/Debian based Linux distro, I would change in a heartbeat. Optic
Also, the tiles aren't that bad once you get used to them; Interesting. I have seen the Metro tiles on a few machines and had a short play before. Not a big fan of the "flat design" tiles and colours though I'm sure it will grow on me. Is it possible though to change the background image around the tiles (not the tiles themselves) ? Maybe an anime pattern or picture could spruce it up a bit. You can do that, I just have it set as transparent though, so my 'background image' is just my wallpaper. Maybe an anime pattern or picture could spruce it up a bit. Optic
@AkashiSeijuro - I'm guessing you were agreeing with me here? How are you finding Windows 8? Run into any issues or smooth sailing for you?

Cake
I have Windows 8.1 on my laptop. The 8.1 update was good for things like the search outside of metro but I never really liked metro. The way the apps are always full screen or split weirdly apart from the desktop took away from the experience. Windows 10 does that right. Metro apps are a still a thing but there's no start screen and metro apps can be treated like regular windows. The tiles show up on the start menu and all that jazz so you still have that. I think you can actually extend the start menu and make it bigger if you want that. I used to prefer Windows 7 to Windows 8 because of small issues with 8, but after using 8.1 on my laptop for a while I really started to like the improvements in speed and the design. Think of Windows 10 as 7+8.1, if you like that it's definitely worth upgrading. They've added new stuff like multiple desktops (which is fairly common in Linux) and a notification sidebar. Basically: 8 is bad, 8.1 is good, 10 is way better (as long as they don't force you to use in favor of the old search).
Guest Jupiter
Sadly no. I'm not using. I'm still stuck on Window's 7.
