What's annoying you?

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find a thread like this but have seen something similar in other forums.

The idea is simple, post something that currently annoys you. A space to rant about the daily annoyances.

I got the idea when my shower broke again. Inconvenient yes, but still somewhat manageable. What really grinds my gears though is that I cannot repair it myself. Some kind of pipe broke which the apartment complex management owns, so they fix it. The problem there is that those people don't actually live here, so they aren't in any kind of a rush to fix it, and it will take "at least a week" (which usually means at least two weeks). I really don't understand why it takes so long to replace one or even a few pipes. I have a place where I can shower but it takes me about 2 hours and then I have to take public transport which often is kinda grimy. Not the end of the world, but really annoying, especially when you have a lot of work to do.

It is annoying to be placed under limitations with seemingly nothing you can do to get out of it.

I have a situation with my vehicle that’s annoying me. I have paid off my car in 2013, but the bank lost my title, I’ve applied for it through them and through the DMV three times, paying fees and filling out paperwork just to get nothing in return. So I’d like to trade in my vehicle or sell it, as it’s getting time to get a nicer larger vehicle. But I can’t do anything until I get that title.. that I know of. And it’s really just frustrating knowing I’m stuck with it.

@Seshi man, that's also one of the things that really annoy me, bureaucracy. I really hate it. Many important things I need to do I can't because of it. I hate it that scenarios like with you and your car usually take forever to be resolved unless you threaten to sue them, which is really not the kind of communication I think people should aim for. Let us know when you get your issue resolved!

@Seshi, did you try to title it via an indemnity bond? Should work in NC and is probably faster than anything else considering your situation. Worst case scenario you might need the bank to file a quitclaim to the title of the car to get it fixed...quitclaims fix nearly all clouds on a title.

The bank did something like that for me, I think the fault is with my addresses or the DMV. It’s a long story, but since I’ve moved so much and am now in a different state than I registered the car in, I’d have to go to the DMV in another state to fix it. Lol

I’ll look into the bond thing you mentioned, thanks. I haven’t heard of that before

Rather, a real easy way to piss me off is unsolicited feedback/commentary/advice.  It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that want to inject themselves into a project, decision, or situation that have no business doing so.

This annoys me sometimes.

Nothing annoying to me right now, but I will add to this with it especially being from people that do not realize the truth of your own words and observations, because you lack the experience they have.

Guess they forget that experience is one of the worst double edged swords.

That brings to mind another thing.  Self-proclaimed subject matter experts, who only have a narrow field of experience.  They're also the ones to usually impart the aforementioned advice - and almost always, that advice turns out to be bad.  The sad thing is, the internet is full of these people.  It also breeds these kinds of people.

I don't know, man, that seems to be a problem nowadays. I don't know how old you are, but it seems like the younger folks can't take constructive criticism anymore. If you're doing something that only affects you, okay, but if you're doing something that could potentially affect and/or harm others, and you won't follow the proper advice, then we got a problem.

People in general cannot really take constructive criticism. They go more based on feeling than anything else, along with their arrogance.

Everyone sees things as their way is right, without really questioning it (e.g. adopting social norms because of the reason of respect, without taking into account the consequences of that action).

I mostly agree with this, but then questions come up, such as what that proper advice is.

Some people will say that proper advice comes from those with experience or are in a position that makes them qualified to have a say, but sometimes, that advice is just plain bad, or they obviously have not done as much thinking or research as people think they do.

Plus, things are not exactly either 100% or 0% in possibilities.

Still, I do think you make a good point here.

I'm not talking about constructive criticism, I'm talking about criticism for the sake of criticism.  We aren't talking about safety concerns, things such as that should be a gimme.  The problem is too many people have an opinion and demand it be heard, and if you don't agree with that then "you're an idiot."

I come from a culture of people that have been thinking in exactly that way even before the internet. People trying to tell me how work at a university really works (when I'm the one working there, while they have never worked there or have any other connection to it) for example.

I usually don't mind as long as the subjects are harmless and it remains just talk. I've heard some of the stupidest things over the course of many years. But I find that mostly people don't necessarily claim things because they know them to be true or are absolutely convinced of them. It seems to have much more of a social function. Trying to show off that you allegedly know so much, undermining others because you dislike them, sometimes just making small talk etc. This can be annoying at times but personally I don't mind as long as it's not constantly the case.

BUT if its about something really important or will definitely lead to actions, then I think it's necessary to make sure people know what they are talking about. If it's about say whether or not someone should drink when pregnant, then I think people should really take a second before saying something. What you say can impact others and change how they act. In these cases you should be certain that what you say is correct and well thought out. It's not enough to "know someone who did this too and their kid turned out fine, so go ahead have a shot or two". 'Annoying' would be a gross understatement in these cases for me.

I think we all come from a culture that, especially now. After all, there would not have been rebellions, uprisings, and insurrections, if it were not the case.

This is why we need my army to deal with such people. 🤣

Hopefully, things clear up over there. Things like that can be annoying.

Currently the fact i'm at work 😂

But no seriously, I get so annoyed at groups of people walking in a line taking up the whole pavement (sidewalk for most here!) and don't even make an attempt to move to let people coming the opposite way past them. The amount of times I've been forced into the road or had to pretty much barge my way through is insane and verrry annoying!

Why does it have every post that requires moderation? lol

Maybe I shouldn't have joined this forum, I guess.

"swoops in"

first 2 posts require moderation to avoid spammers (which is actually frequent) on posting lewd spams

after two posts you wont be moderated unless warned and or added restriction though, but that doesn't really happened much

Three things that annoy me are...

  1. Potholes on the road - potholes are really annoying, they are very common in local areas, a lot of councils don't seem to care, my car has been damaged several times, there has also been times when cyclists have gone into a pothole without seeing them and end up falling off their bicycles, highly dangerous.
  2. Inconsiderate dangerous drivers - they over take without care to other drivers, pull out of a road without looking, speed on roundabouts, the list goes on.
  3. Speed bumps - there doesn't seem to be one set standard when it comes to speed bumps, they are designed to slow vehicles down, but what really annoys me is, they are either not aligned correctly on the road, too high that when you go over them slowly the car bounces, or in such a bad state damage the wheels.

I'm currently enrolled in college for a degree I don't actually have much/any interest in and have no idea how I'm going to apply it to my life after I've graduated (if I even make it that far) ... school in general has also just been causing me copious amounts of anxiety that have led to absolutely horrendous sleeping patterns due to the fact that I feel like my entire life is passing me by while I waste precious time working towards something I have no passion for or interest in ...

On a more lighthearted note one of the shows I was watching ended on a pretty big cliff hanger so I guess I'd say I'm a bit annoyed by that.
