  1. Agreed. It's one of the best Disney movies of all time.

My favorite Disney film is Beauty and the Beast though. :)

I really need to get around to watching that, I love Disney but I still have a backlog of films I need to watch. I probably saw it when I was young but I can't really remember it.

I have listened to the soundtrack though and I love the main theme that plays during the dance scene. One of my favourite things about Disney films has always been the music. One of these days I'm going to have to do a marathon of all the Disney films

  2. The Lion King. I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of Disney and The Lion King is one of my favourite Disney films of all time. It had a pretty good story, even if it was suspiciously similar to Hamlet. The soundtrack was absolutely unforgettable though.

  3. Well these are quite old now, but Kino's Journey. It's also the anime that my avatar is from. Found it completely accidentally when I first got into anime. I was just searching for a certain song on youtube and an AMV with Kino's Journey showed up so I checked it out and decided to watch it. It's been one of my favourite anime for quite a while now. It's a really clever series that gets you thinking, but it's really obscure. I probably wouldn't have ever watched it if I hadn't stumbled on it by accident. I eventually got into the Light Novels too and I got completely addicted.

Also Aria the Animation. I think I was browsing the MAL forums or something and someone mentioned it so I checked it. Had no idea what it really was at first but I ended up loving it. Seriously the most relaxing anime I've ever watched. The ending was amazing too, it's up there as one of the most emotional endings I've ever watched

  4. Sayaka. I think the way she was written was pretty clever. She's essentially a reversal of the stereotypical hero. If it had been any other anime she would have been the protagonist. What happened to her was a pretty cruel twist. She's also one of the more complex characters in my opinion. For example the whole thing with Kyosuke. She didn't necessarily want Kyosuke to be healed, she wanted to be the one to heal him so he would finally recognize her. Much in the same way that she doesn't just want her friends to be safe, she wanted to be the hero who protected them. It isn't until the end that she realizes everything she did was just for her own ego.

I like all of the characters, Sayaka just seemed really fleshed out and relatable though, even if she is terribly abused throughout the entire anime.

  5. My first encounter into anime forum communities was either AnimeSuki or MyAnimeList. Memory is a bit hazy on this one. There were a lot more anime fansites than forums at the time.

Wow, now that brings back memories! I remember visiting that site since 2009..

Looks like they've been bought out though, judging from all the ads plastered on it..

Any idea how this community is going? I noticed they've had a new owner fairly recently.

Not too bad. Although there was a pretty hilarious incident recently where porn ads started showing up all over the site because the owner made a mistake. Other than that it's ok though, a little less active than before though.

  6. Venice. Only reason is because of Aria the Animation really lol. That show made Venice look so attractive. Always wanted to ride a gondola though.

Also Japan. Akihabara in particular. It'd be pretty cool to go to a maid cafe or something.

  7. As I mentioned before this is one of my favourite anime. Really unique series, I love anything that makes you think and there were some really clever episodes. Also this anime was so good at handling atmosphere. I loved both seasons, but I think season 2 topped the first.

  8. Hello and welcoome to the forum Alca , Yuuki desu , I hope you enjoy it here :P

Another Muso :'( so happy , I'm a guitarist but I also play a multitude of other instruments (not the piano though) , I also write ( but I doubt the difficulty of writing for guitar or bass comes close to writing for piano).

And I'm also a big fan of Mushishi :P

I play guitar too. I've actually been playing guitar a lot longer than piano, but since learning piano I don't play it as much. I usually played classical/fingerstyle stuff though. I've composed a few pieces for guitar, but I feel more comfortable composing for piano.

And yeah, Mushishi is in my top 5 anime. Really unique series.

  9. I mainly listen to classical, so my favourite composers are Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Debussy, Ravel, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Liszt.

In terms of modern composers though it'd be Phillip Glass, John Williams and Hans Zimmer. I'm also a pretty big fan of Yuki Kaijura who composed the soundtracks for Puella Magi Madoka, Fate/Zero and Sword Art Online. I like listening to Yoko Kanno too.

  10. Welcome to Anime Forums! Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Since you are familiar with Touhou, do you play any of the games, or listen to the music (OSTs or remixes), or just like Suika?

Also, since you write fiction from time to time, have you ever participated in NaNo?

Do you read any manga? If so, what are your favorites?

So far I've played EOSD, Hisoutensoku, Ten Desires and Imperishable Night. I also listen to the music a lot too. Mainly remixes and piano arrangements. Suika's theme is one of my favourite pieces from the OST.

I've heard of NaNo before. I haven't participated in it, but I've considered trying it out. It looks like a pretty good way to get motivated.

I read manga from time to time. My favourite is probably Mushishi. It's a really unique series and I haven't really come across anything similar before. I also own a few volumes from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series. I have a few volumes from Soul Eater too. I still spend more time watching anime than I do reading manga though. I do read a lot of light novels however.

  11. :o I forgot to add Puella Magi Madoka Magica to my list xP I love it as well.

I can't wait for the Girls und Panzer movie that is supposed to come out later this year that's acting as a sequel. It's going to be amazing!

I'm currently watching Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. It's fantastic!

I heard about the Girls und Panzer movie but I completely forgot about it. I'll definitely watch it when it comes out.

I have Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo on my list to watch so I'll probably get around to it soon

  12. Yeah....the feels hit me extremely hard. I cried. Not many anime have made me cry.

Some of my personal favorites aside from Your Lie in April are: Angel Beats, Toradora, Nagi no Asukara, Familiar of Zero, Fairy Tail, Golden Time, Kill la Kill, Shakugan no Shana, Future Diary, Girls und Panzer, Tokyo Ravens, and Hyperdimension Neptune.

I've seen Angel Beats, Toradora, Nagi no Asukara, Golden Time, Kill la Kill, Future Diary and Girls und Panzer. Haven't got around to watching the rest yet though, but that's a good list. A few of my favourite anime are: Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Clannad, Air, Kanon, Aria the Animation, Mushishi, No Game No Life, Kino's Journey, Romeo x Juliet and Steins;Gate.

  13. I'm impressed! I need you in my life :P

You would probably love the anime: Your Lie in April. The main character is a pianist.

Yeah I've already watched it. It was really good. Hit me pretty hard with those feels though.

    Thanks for the welcome

Welcome to the forum, I actually used to play piano myself although it has been some time since I played. I hope you enjoy your time here.

    Thanks so do I.

Well hello there impressive member! Who is your favorite composer? Also, I would love to see some AMVs by you! We do have a section in the fanworks for AMVs. So feel free to post them up. Do enjoy your stay.

I find it difficult to name a favourite composer, but it'd probably Chopin. I've only learned one or two of his preludes so far though, but Chopin was pretty much what got me into classical music. In terms of more recent composers though it'd probably be Phillip Glass.

I just noticed to the fanworks section so I'll get around to posting a few AMV's soon enough. Thanks for the welcome.
