  1. So I just finished watching all of Shion no Ou, and there was something I just didn't get. Spoilers below in case the title of this thread didn't tip you off So Shion's parents' killer ends up being Makoto Hani, because he wanted her to grow stronger from the experience so he'd have a stronger opponent to get stronger himself. Okay, got that...but what was the deal with Satoru Hani's girlfriend? This is the thing I don't understand at all. Makoto at least plans to kill her, and might have caused her death from surprise (this isn't entirely clear, but is probable), and she leaves some messages on Satoru's cellphone right before dying that imply she has something very important to tell him. It seems like the show is hinting that she knows his brother is the murderer, but how could that be? Surely she didn't witness it? If so, why was she allowed to leave at all? And why wouldn't she have just immediately gone to the police? I suppose it's possible that Makoto only planned to kill her to make Satoru grow stronger similarly to what he did to Shion, but that seems pretty off too, especially since if that was the case what was Satoru's girlfriend trying to tell him over the phone? This is something that just stuck with me as a plot hole of sorts...did I miss something that explains it?
  2. I've mostly avoided this one because I'm not a big fan of kemonomimis, but I've seen it recommended so much that I might have to give it a watch lol. I've had this one recommended to me before too, it sorta fell through the cracks. Might give it a try. This one fits most of my criteria, but I tried it and for some reason I really didn't like it...I only saw a couple episodes but I found it really boring =(. I sort of feel bad for that since I understand a lot of people love it, but I dunno, it just didn't grab me at all. I've seen that one, it was pretty good, nice and whimsical Hm, I looked at a (probably fan made?) trailer for this one, it looks like they're all kemonomimis. Are there any fully anthropomorphic characters in it? Checked out a trailer for this, and while I'm not really a big fan of the mole people (except Kiroumaru, assuming he's one of them; he's definitely aesthetically pleasing) the story and artwork looked really good, might have to give this one a try I saw Totoro a loooong time ago when I was a little kid, don't remember much of it so might have to give it another watch sometime (I do love Miyazaki) I've seen Knights of Sedonia on my Netflix feed and have almost watched it a couple of times I didn't know that there was a bear cook in the show, that might nudge me into watching it lol. Thanks for the recommendations and the link! I guess this thread is the one for these boards lol. Unless there was another one before this one...I searched before I started this, but I'm also brand new here, so it's certainly not impossible. Also, I just remembered a couple of other animes I've seen with anthropomorphic characters: Bleach (Sajin Komamura, a relatively common side character, is randomly an anthropomorphic wolf...was that ever explained? Near as I can tell he's literally the only anthropomorphic character in that entire universe...0.o) Porco Rosso (titular character is an anthropomorphic pig)
  3. That one looks perfect! I've actually been looking for a good "wizard/magician" anime as well, for whatever reason all the ones I've found have really rubbed me the wrong way. Were they mostly enemies, or were there some good and some bad? I'd probably still check it out if the former, but it gets bonus points if the latter is true. How prominent is that character in the series, if I may ask? Well if you ever get the urge to list more of them here I'm all ears Thanks for the recommendations you've already gave regardless. This seems to be the case with many internet-based communities, never really understood why. Particularly for "otaku," considering how similar the communities really are...I mean, both enjoy creative mediums of a specific type, both have conventions, both like cosplaying as their favorite characters, both are mischaracterized by those outside the fandom as porn-crazed or sexually deviant due to behaviors of a small subsection of their community, etc. etc. There even seems to be quite a bit of overlap between the two fandoms (e.g. many who like both furry characters and anime/manga), so that animosity seems pretty strange, but waddayagonnado? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and The Boy and the Beast definitely looks pretty good. I'm curious about Wolf Children too. Thanks for the recommendations
  4. I'm curious if anyone could recommend to me some animes with full on anthropomorphic characters (not nekos/kemonomimi), preferably as main characters? It seems to be pretty uncommon for some reason, or maybe I'm just bad at finding them. So far I know of the following that have them as main characters: Hyper Police (has kemonomimi but also some full on anthro characters, specifically Tommy and rarely Batanen) Goblin Slayer (the "Lizard Priest" character is an anthropomorphic lizard) Aggretsuko (if that counts; whole world is anthro) With a few others featuring them in the world in some way shape or form, such as: Claymore (specifically Rigardo the Silver Eyed Lion King who's in it for like half an episode) Pokemon (sort of?) Hunter X Hunter (the Chimera Ants arc had some anthro characters, though sadly it was where the series started to really drop in quality) Naruto (pretty sure there was a filler episode somewhere with an anthropomorphic tiger or something? Even if I'm misremembering the Tailed Beasts could conceivably count, as could some of the summons) I've probably seen more than that but those are the only ones that come to mind. I started trying to watch Sirius the Jaeger recently because it had the "werewolf" tag in Netflix, but apparently for that show "werewolf" means "sometimes his eyes glow blue, woo" -_-. Maybe more happens with it later (I watched about 7 episodes), but it sure didn't seem like it would. Anyway, any recommendations/suggestions? I'm more into fantasy/scifi action-ey stuff, so those genres would be ideal, but if there's something in another genre that features human-animal hybrid characters feel free to recommend it (a slice-of-life one would probably be pretty cool; I definitely liked Agretsuko which is basically that). Note that I'm far less interested in "animals that happen to talk" anthros (such as those in Ginga Densetsu Weed) but feel free to recommend those too if you like so long as they're pretty common/prominently featured rather than a one-off comic relief character (like Luna from Sailor Moon for instance).
