I was actually inspired to start this discussion after reading a thread on the WaniKani. The way people were talking there really reminded me of One Piece, especially the themes of personal growth and choosing your own path. It made me think about how strongly the idea of freedom is present from the very first episode, and that’s what pushed me to share my thoughts here.

Does One Piece begin with the theme of freedom? I felt like the first episode strongly emphasized the idea of freedom and choosing your own path in life. Do you think freedom is the core theme of the series, or does the story eventually expand into something even broader? Personally, I see freedom and perseverance as major themes right from the start—especially in the way Luffy is so unwavering and determined about his dream.
