    Howl's Moving Castle?

Sophie unfortunately encounters the Witch of the Wastes in her hat shop who curses her to be an old woman...unfortunately, part of the curse is that you can't speak of it to anyone who isn't already aware of it.  It'll just gum up your mouth to keep you from talking.  She decides that she should run from her life as she couldn't tell anyone the truth of what happened to her (and she didn't want anyone to see) and she sets off into the Wastes (possibly to beat the old Witch of the Wastes over the head with a cane until she reversed the spell...it isn't indicated in the anime, only in the book) and comes across Howl's Moving Castle (which varies in size over the time of the story).  She then forcefully moves in (her old lady personality is completely different from her timid hat-maker personality) after making a deal with a fire demon in the hearth....

    Sound familiar?

    YES thanks you!!!

  3. The first Anime I've ever seen. must have been 10 years old (19 now). It was a story about the main character, I think she was female, and she had an unfortunate encounter with some witch, who put a spell on her and she couldn't talk. Then I forget... and she was in some big house or something idk 😅 hahah

    Any help would be appreciated

Yeah, I don't always read reviews, especially if I just come across something while browsing for something to watch. But, often if I'm going to add something to my to-read list I do read up on it first, to see if it matches what I'm imagining.
Some people really like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, as I said it's a classic, but I personally didn't like the way time travel was done, some plot holes were annoying, and the main character annoys me more than any other.
I would totally recommend Naruto! It really constantly improves the further into the series you get. My sister, INTJ, wasn't interested in it at the beginning, but she kept on because she liked Kakashi and she trusted my opinion. It is now tied with Yona of the Dawn for her top favorite anime and she is properly obsessed. ^_^ There is so much good about that series, it just takes a bit of time to get into it.

    Awesome! Thanks so much!

I'd say The Irregulars at Magic High. The MC struck me as my most loathed type....the zero personality with underrated but bad ass skills with this superiority complex, whom all the ladies immediately fawn all over....even his sister, who doesn't even have the shame to hide her lust and obsession with him (and this seems to really turn him on ~vomits~). Now, while I am really not a fan of incest relationships, there has been one or two tastefully done ones that I've seen. This was not one of them. I gave it three episodes then quit and have never looked back.

A good runner up would be Elfin Lied. Boob squeezing (essentially molestation) of a mentally challenged girl he just met? No thanks. Wish social services had paid a visit to that residence! Tried to watch it twice on my best friend's insistence. Quit midway through both times.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is more of a tragic comedy to me. It isn't bad. I really enjoyed it. But there is no happy ending.

Haha I'll likely stay away from those then lol

I almost watched School Days, but then I read the reviews and was like "nope". :P

Out of the anime I have watched all the way through I would have to say Amnesia, hands down. Sexual assault, manipulation, abduction, keeping a girl in a cage... and it's all seen as okay? No thank you.

There's also a classic I don't like, but I'm always getting more annoyed with it because I can't understand why it's so popular. Which is, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I just can't stand that movie.

nice input. I used to read up on certain anime before I watched them to make sure they had a happy ending, because ever since I was a young child I turned to anime to make me happy. Of course I forget to read about this one anime before I watch it, and I paid for it.

I've never heard of The Girl Who Leapt Through time, but I'll take your word for it.

Now I know this next question is random, and has no business being in this thread, but would you recommend Naruto to someone who hasn't watched Naruto? I watched the first 5 episode and it didn't catch my interest. I'm only asking because you seem like an experienced anime watcher 😂

Boku no Pico hands down. If you haven't heard of it DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY AND YOUR INNOCENCE WATCH IT!!! It needs to be thrown into a pit and burned with bleach and gasoline because just one isn't enough to destroy that piece of trash.

    ahahha classic anime right there

  7. Okay so I love romance animes, particularly ones with a happy ending resulting in MC and female ending up together, but honestly, what is up with School days? I tend to sympathize, even empathize, with the mc, so School Days just made me hate myself. and then that ending!!!??

Okay so this anime starts off innocently and you see a love triangle forming, but then it turns into a coitus crazed male going around cheating on everyone that us (the viewers) are rooting for. Then at the end, the first girlfriend cuts the MC's head off, then gets killed herself and yeah. worst anime I've ever seen.

Anyways, what's your least favourite anime and why?

  8. SPOLERS AHEAD FOR Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso

Gosh darn it. I was watching Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso, because my friend recommended it to me because its like Clannad, but I could not finish it. Don't get me wrong, it was amazing, the first 10 episodes I did watch. But there were so many hints that pointed towards Kaori dying, that I had to search it up, to see if she actually does die. Well, crap. I can not get so emotionally attached to an anime and have the MCs love interest die!! Clannad made me cry like a baby! I will not go thru that again. I only did with Clannad because I heard there was a happy ending. Does anyone else feel the same way? If you understand how I feel, would you recommend I finish the rest (I really don't like feeling sad)?

Lastly, I guess I'd just like to ask for a recommendation or two. An anime the revolves around romance. One where neither the male or female die!

    Thanks :)

  9. Been a while since I've posted here. Back again because I value the recommendations of fellow anime enthusiasts (rather than articles), and you guys haven't let me down yet.

Lately, I've been viewing lots of isekai, coming upon this genre with KonoSuba. A few series later of similar genre, I stumbled upon Zero No Tsukaima. This is where I rediscovered my love for romantic anime, and I consistently wished they would abandon the story line and focus on the romance between MC and his fellow lady.

I'm back again to ask for more recommendations where romance is in great focus, comedy isn't dry, and even some ecchi aspects would be appreciated.

I hope I'm not asking for too much :)

Thanks guys, love you all <3

  10. ok , sorry for not getting back sooner , been a little busy at work

to try and fully remember as to what with what your talking about I just started rewatching the last 5 eps of Clannad from ep 20 and ive done three eps atm eps 23 & 24 to go

but from memory it finished at the end of 23 and 24 was like an alternate ending as apposed to ep 23

also I haven't seen the movie so I cant really comment about it or where in the order it may go , I went straight to the after story

Oh my god... so I just finished episode 18 of the after story... and an 18 year old guy like me shouldn't be crying this much over an anime... well im pushing through to the end...

  11. funny I also had givin up on it not long after suggesting it , he's just tooo stupid

don't forget the Clannad after story

and maybe try Ef: A Tale of Memories and the after story Ef: A Tale of Melodies its also sad drama, romance like Clannad

Okay i finished Clannad. Super confused why there was an episode 24 with a completely different love interest. What do i watch next? Clannad the Movie? or the after story. What is the difference between the movie and the regular series?

  12. Okay so i tried lovely complex... and unfortunately i didnt get attached to it like i did with Toradora. but Im watching clannad now and just finished episode 9... tears still rolling down my eyes :'(. And thanks everyone for the suggestions!! I shall give these all a chance :)

  13. It honestly depends on what you're looking for. I'm into romance anime, and the fact I'm a teenage boy, the lewd romance anime series catch my attention. The first anime I ever watched was Girls Bravo. I learned pretty quickly, however, that the characters I was rooting for, that is, to get involved romantically, often did not go as I wanted. It always left the story open, and nothing really changed for the MC. So then I moved into straight romance, no ecchi, no harem, and i got exactly what i wanted. Just finished the series Toradora! today, and it's comedic scenes and overall 'brightness' really kept my attention. And I was very happy with how it ended :)

  14. There is a decent variety in the romance genre, it really depends on what you want which you will find enjoyable. Note that some of these are rather obscure so take these as just a few pointers and quality is all over the place.

If you want some action with somewhat a romance theme then Elemental Gelade or Tokyo Underground is worth checking out.

For a more surreal or just out of normal slice-of-life, you could go with Kyoukai no Kanata, Midori Days, Shuffle, Trouble Chocolate, Air or My Bride is a Mermaid just to name a few.

If you want more normal slice-of-life then Da Capo, Nisekoi or Fuuka might be more your speed.

For more deep stories, winding and entrenching emotions, things that will make you ball your eyes out, and more like what you might find in a real relationship then Clannad, Your lie in April, or Nodame Cantabile is worth watching.

Lastly, the guilty pleasures if you will, ecchi from the generic to bordering on the absurd with some semblance of romance entwined, you could go with Futari Ecchi, Chobits, DearS, Girls Bravo, or Ladies Vs. Butlers.

Hope this helps, and feel free to discuss any of these.

Thanks so much! It's kinda sad I've seen almost all the Ecchi suggestions xD

  15. Hi friends! looking for an anime like Toradora!, as in, it needs to have a definite ending of boy and girl. I'm tired of anime ending so open, as if there was no reason to watch everything in between (used to watch harem anime, so what do you expect). So something that answers all the questions. I can really relate to the whole high school drama thing too, and I really like the comedy and 'brightness' of Toradora! so anything like this would be awesome! Thanks peeps!

P.s - I care not if the Anime has ecchi aspects :)

Edit - I just saw all the replies to my old post! I love this community! Thank you everyone for the suggestions!! ^_^ So yeah, as you can see from this new post, I've moved slightly away from the action side of anime, and straight romance :)

  16. Hi all. Just made this account. I'm in search of a good anime, preferably English dubbed. I would hugely appreciate it if anyone helped me. I'm looking for an anime with romance and action, but kinda leaning towards the romance side. Good relationship development, and a chosen partner, as in, not ending with the relationship kinda where it started off. Ecchi would be nice, but not required. Comedy is a nice bonus too. Something like sword art online. All anime I've tried similar to SOA were either too dark, or lacked the romantic aspect. Thanks whomever helps me out!
