Anime name

On Instagram I once saw an anime where a guy was somewhat held as a prisoner outside a village or town. He mostly ate rocks/dirt from the ground. Then one day a girl found him. Seeing that he had nothing to eat, she gave him some food. This girl liked to grow flowers(if I remember correctly the girl managed grow some on the boy's arm). The girl continued to visit the guy from childhood all the way to teenagehood/adulthood. One time the villagers accused the boy of doing something which I can't remember. From the looks of things, they wanted  to kill him, but the girl(his friend) died trying to protect him. Does anyone know the name of the anime?
