Winged Demon late night Anime

There was an anime that my brothers were watching when I was too young to stay up. It was around 11 pm and I hid on the stairs to watch what they were watching. Guess what, it was not some nice cartoon, and it was full blown dark brutal anime with a winged demon flying though a town. I remember this specifically that the demon flew through the town and cut the heads of the townsfolk with its speed and sharp wings. The people did not understand what was happening before the demon was so fast.  Blood would spray up through their neck then the body would fall. This demon has haunted me since then and I want to find this anime to fill in the storyline. I did not get the see anymore of this Anime/short. I have been thinking about this for over 20 years now. It was a very dark anime but the visuals were refined and I think it was around 2001-2004 when this happen. I was around 11 or 12 years old. idk if remember the demon right but it was a bat like humanoid with a red & black armor. We had one of those cable boxes so I think it was HBO Cinemax showtime before you know the softcore corn came on.  Any feedback or someone who saw this scene would be great.
