YHWH Posted May 14 Share Posted May 14 As much as i hate using the word tourist or newbie to describe new people who are into anime, i can't help but be bewildered by some of the stupid shit people say. Recently i was having this friendly discourse with a guy who recently got into anime, we were discussing no game no life the anime and it's themes and why it never got a season 2 and this fucking guy said "Sora is an asshole pervert main character who has no motivations and goals and the only good character the entire anime has is Stephanie Dola cause she has a goal and a character arc" and i was like that is the dumbest shit I've ever heard and mind you i do have a lot of problems with no game no life and fan service in anime in general but my brother in christ you are literally watching an ecchi anime with a harem of girls, you are not going to find Lelouch level character writing Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Saying he's an "asshole" is more subjective, but he is often manipulative, arrogant, and dismissive of others. Whether those traits make him a bad character is a different discussion. Uncrowned Guard Posted June 13 Share Posted June 13 Idk, I actually think it’s kind of nice seeing anime culture, collabs, and events popping up in places you’d never imagine years ago. It’s wild how mainstream it’s become, but in a good way; the reach is bigger, the budgets are bigger, and the variety of shows is bigger. And I’m really not sold on the idea that “the mainstream didn’t like Sora, so NGNL didn’t continue.” That’s just not how it went. No Game No Life got wrapped up in a plagiarism case, and the staff basically admitted wrongdoing. After that, the studio said they were open to exploring other possibilities with the IP, but not continuing the direct work. That’s a huge legal wall. To make a new season, they’d need rights, approvals, and cooperation from the original creator, and with a plagiarism admission on record, that’s a nightmare. It’s not happening, and it has basically zero to do with public opinion. Honestly, the legal side killed NGNL way more than any fan take ever could.
