Midnight Faolan
Whether you are a guy or a girl, I am sure many of you have been into a nail salon before for SOME reason. In any nail salon that I've ever been into, all of the workers seem to be Vietnamese families. I thought it was strange that it's such a common thing, so I decided to search it up! According to Nails Magazine's 2012-2013 Industry Statistics, 48% of nail professionals in the nail industry are Vietnamese Americans. What I found was, Tippi Hedren, who starred in Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic The Birds, was a volunteer with a humanitarian group that worked with Vietnamese refugees in Sacramento. Having escaped war-torn Vietnam, the refugees lived in a tent city that the actress often visited. Tipp Hedren said in an interview that the women at the refugee camp were fascinated by how nice her nails looked. So, Hedren decided to bring her manicurist once a week to give the women a lesson on doing nails. Hedren then decided to enroll Citrus Heights Beauty School near Sacramento as students! And from there they built their nail salon empire! Edited September 29, 2016 by Guest
