About this blog

I

I have just finished watching “Otaku no video” anime. Although it was not a recent anime, I haven’t watched it before, and decided to give it a try, as my motto, when it comes to watching anime is that you have to be open minded and try watching every genre. The animation itself really has a vintage feel to it as it was released back in 1991, and that is a good thing, but the storyline has a few flaws.

The pace of the anime is too quick. I felt that the development is not set right and it lacks details. The main character suddenly becomes an Otaku, out of the blue and of of a sudden he calls himself “The Otaking”. The girlfriend also left him abruptly and that part also remains unclear. In my opinion, this anime needed more then just two episodes to reach its full potential.

When it comes to the mockumentary part of the anime, I think it would work better if it featured actual Otakus rather than people who were actually[[ connected with the company who made the anime. It is an interesting concept, but it was rather poorly executed.   “Otaku no video” is a good anime with a great concept that looks a bit sloppy and unfinished. I would like to see a remake of the anime with better production and more details to it because it would be such a shame for “Otaku no Video” not to get a second chance, it definitely deserves one.
