I first became aware of Azumanga Daioh via ADV Films dvd release of the series starting in 2003. I credit it as my very first slice-of-life anime & one of my all time favorite anime. I have all six volumes/discs & recently purchased the reissued bluray collection from Sentai Film Works.

Kimura-sensei is widely credited as the originator of the word/term “waifu”. The mangaka also has a long running manga series called Yotsuba that surprisingly has never had an anime adaption.

Azumanga wouldn't be Azumanga without Tomo. They're all my favorites, but she's the best. Tomo 4 LIFE!

For me I can't ever truly dislike any of them, so it's a little dumb for me to ask. It doesn't seem like anything else is happening in here anyway.

Back in 2022, I discovered Azumanga Daioh through some fanart I found. Sadly I don't remember who the artist was so I'll probably never see it again.

I worry that there are some cool facts I am missing out on...

Went ahead and bought the new bluray collection of the series, since the copy I already owned is the individual dvd releases from ADV Films 20 years ago Since it’s one of my all time favorites, don’t wont to risk losing it to disc rot or it getting pulled from streaming. Would’ve been nice if it had some extra features or better packaging though.

the fake osaka fans break my heart..they don't even know what her real name is I honestly have a hard time remembering it myself but I always remember that Tomo was the one who gave her that nickname & there was a scene where she couldn’t find her name on the class roster & it was because Yukari-sensei wrote “Osaka” instead of Ayumu Kasuga

Osaka don’t need weed, that’s just her natural state of being. I got some enamel pins that came with the dvds back in the day (Maya & Chiyo-chan’s “Dad”I think). Will post a pic once I find them.

That's so true. Ever since Osaka got popular on tiktok and instagram memes, its hard to find affordable merch of her. Its all of these memes were she smokes weed or does the thug shake. Its really weird, but sometimes its funny. Theres this yt video called sata andagi. I probably watched it 20 times its so cool.
