I have many favorites, but this one is just so goddamn funny, just thinking about it makes me nearly burst into laughter

It was via Google, I looked up anime 3x3 discussion board and found this site and really liked its layout, so joined. 

Anime feels like it's always been a part of my life even though I never watched much of it before recently.

I used to, and still am but not as much, HUGE on YouTube. And most of the youtubers I watched would drop anime references or talk about an anime for jokes, and I eventually began getting the gist of some shows before ever watching them, such as JoJos, DragonBall Z, MHA, Hunter x Hunter, ect. 

Other than YouTube, the show that most directly contributed to me getting into anime was Evangelion. It was one of the few anime series at the time I actually watched more than 1 episode of or watched more than just snippets from by stopping in the living room and seeing my sister watching an anime. I got into it because I looked it up and saw it's amazing reviews, and wanted to try it out with my sister, and we both got HOOKED.

The entire show made me think about if there were other masterpieces like this one out there, and if there were, I HAD to see them.

Problem was, my attention span was dogshit. I watched YouTube mainly because it didn't require me to focus my attention for a long period of time. But I was motivated by that idea of shows as good as Evangelion being out there, so I forced myself to sit down to finish any episode I started on, and to not watch another show unless I finished the one I was on if it was good. Eventually my attention span began getting better, and I was even watching movies by my own will at times, which I never did before. 

And now I can binge entire seasons in 2 days or less. AOT was my most recent binge, I finished season 1 in 2 days, which past me would have been disgusted and shocked at.

(Edit: as for why I love anime, it's the lack of restraint it has. Anime doesn't seem to be afraid to be anything it wants, and you get unashamedly weird shit. Depending on the anime, it can be a good or bad thing, but it really can make for some of the most beautiful storytelling out there.)

Weirdly enough that sounds very similar to me,  only different is I got into Anime middle of 2020 or around that time. However I too like to watch the good works, I go through serious vetting to not waste my time, I stick to stuff I know I like or look up openings, check scores, look for opinions and also see what recommendation I get from the shows I've seen. It works nighty percent of the time, but the occasional Witch Hunter Robin or Golden Times slip through. 

FMA is a great show, if you're looking for another great Shonen try Hunter x Hunter that an awesome series if you've not got round to it. It slightly loner maybe running another sixty episodes or more however it much shorter than One Piece. 

LMAO your philosophy to watching shows is very similar to mine as well, I want shows that are worth my time watching, not ones that end up disappointing or boring, so I also check out the shows ratings beforehand or listen to youtuber's reccomendations. 

I watched a bit of hunter x Hunter a long time ago but forgot about it, I'll try it again someday though.

Ouran, and FMA are a couple of my favorites too!

Since you didn't mention it, I would suggest My Hero Academia - and I'm not generally a superhero person, but the story and world in it is really interesting to me.

I also like to try and tell people about Yakitate!! Japan, as it's one of my favorites and very underrated. It's about making bread, but its much better than it sounds, and REALLY funny!

Cowboy Bebop is a good classic, and Space Dandy is similar in ways - when it came out I thought it was a direct parody of bebop, but it's not. But it's really funny, and has a lot of similarities. (Both going through space, both bounty hunters.)

I could give you more recommendations but I don't want to give you too many!

Yakitate looks like it leans towards slice of life, so I'll very likely enjoy it. And I'd love to see how they make a show about making bread, It's concept reminds me of a show I watched awhile back called silver spoon awhile back that explored how the Japanese agricultural industry works and how food products are made and what people need to do in order to make their final products. So I'm def putting that on my list. 

I watched a few shows the past few years, but I really began getting into anime at the end of 2021, and have been Binging show after show for the past few months. 

I've always appreciated good works of art in any medium, and anime is no different. The kinda shows I wanna see are good ones, I don't care what genre they are, FMA, Ouran high school host club, Serial Experiments Lain, whatever.

I'm here mainly because I really like talking about anime. I talk about it with my friends, my coworkers, and consume YouTube videos of breakdowns/criticisms/analysis of an anime I've watched. So yeah, I'm happy to be here, I hope to get along with y'all. 

2 notable ones I've dropped were Naruto and Toradora. 

Naruto as a whole I just found really lifeless. 5 episodes in, and I couldn't find a single funny moment, or anything to note in each character that wasn't directly shown. Shows generally have characters acting in ways that are only explained later that the audience may pick up on and even find out themselves, and really nice small details, but that just was not in Naturo, so it felt lifeless. 

Toradora is a lot better than Naruto, the show is really interesting, I liked the situations and characters themselves, but the plot and character development were what felt REALLY weak. 

Ranma 1/2, GTO, and AOT.

I have a few other shows on the side, but those 3 I'm pushing hard to finish.
