  1. I'm happy to see the love for Raven. That show is so underrated.
  2. Update: I reached 100 completed shows. My Gonstroph list is my subjective list, where I rate based on enjoyment. https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Gonstroph?onetime=ce91b63613cf434afcb42f9094f3aafa7802b721aee4ada54c2b4513f21c0eab My GooWapa list is my attempt at an objective list, where I consider shows purley from a critical perspective regardless of how I feel. https://myanimelist.net/animelist/GooWapa?onetime=216727d35fa2b081e6e2b2ffbd2c0bc162bf9a389c575196e7f816b788ad186d I'll probably make an update post much farther down the line, but a lot has changed since my first post here, I felt obligated to update it. (To Media Consumes Me, I will get to Fate/Zero and End of EVA eventually, they were just very difficult to understand. )
  3. Anime is something a lot of my friends were into already, there were never many people I needed to convert. The only converting I really needed to do were getting people off of big Shonen shows like AOT or DBZ. Mainly my male friends were into that, so I would suggest them stuff like Black Lagoon or Cowboy Bebop. But someone I genuinely converted into anime recently is a friend from Guatemala who didn't know what anime was until she saw me watching it. We poked fun at each other for how often we saw our respective shows, it was me with my anime, and her with her Netflix school dramas. One day though, I suggested her Neon Genesis Evangelion in dub since she still couldn't stand not understanding what anyone was saying. And she actually loved Evangelion, we binged half the season in one sitting, and now she moved on to Death Note and binged the entire show over a weekend. She told me she likes anime now. Mission Accomplished.
  4. Kodocha 1st ED song. This entire show had an outstanding OST period, and this ED song was when that fact became obvious.
  5. For non-sesonals, I'm watching: Kodocha, Rio: Rainbow Gate, and Samurai Champloo. Seasonals I'm watching are: Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Raven of the Inner Palace, Bocchi the Rock, My Master has No Tail, and Urusei Yatsura. I know this seems like a lot, but I'm mainly focusing on Kodocha, everything else I'll watch occasionally. And I am absolutley LOVING Kodocha. I find myself consistently humming the tunes from this series and not being able to put it down at times. I'm a sucker for any series with a good OST and a good romance, and this show has both.
  6. Black Lagoon has the most kickass dub of any show I've seen, I'm really surprised no one has mentioned it yet. Oddtaxi and Fruitsbasket 2019 would be my next two favorites.
  7. The two shows I blame for getting me into anime are Evangelion and Fruitsbasket. With those two shows and most shows I watch, I would go on YouTube and find reviews for them to see what others think, and got into anime culture that way. Fruitsbasket especially though, the ending left an amazing impression on me and made me want to find more good shows.
  8. Okay, so based on numbers in MAL, this anime seems to be very unknown: Alien 9. It has gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous visuals first of all. The entire thing was beautiful to look at all the way through, and the animation is incredibly smooth. The story here also has a lot of depth, and every single scene is used to progress the story somehow, nothing here is without purpose. In other words, it had great pacing. Bear in mind though, this show is very, very weird. Don't come into this show expecting anything, just keep an open mind and enjoy it, because it will not go the way you think it will. It doesn't have any cliches or any kind of familiar story elements. I really haven't seen anything like it, and really wish it was more well-known. God damn look at these MOVEMENTS
  9. Honestly very, very torn on whether to watch this remake or not when I found how how many more episodes the original has than this version, which if I remember right, will only have around 47 episodes. I just finished Ranma and want more from Rumiko Takahashi, so what would yall say is best between the two options?
  10. Is that really from an anime? It's an English pun that's why I'm wondering If so which one I like that quote
  11. "In all things, I think having a dream requires having the resolve to struggle with reality." -From Silver Spoon, episode 3
  12. Great Pretender and Serial Experiments Lain are the two I really wanna rewatch someday, just because I watched them pretty early in my anime binge, when I began getting into more anime, so I need to refresh my memory of them because I remember both of them being amazing and wanna see if they really were. I began criticizing and trying to break down shows from the beginning and would say I'm a lot better at it now then I was then, I'm able to notice more details and pay attention better, (My attention span then wasn't nearly as good as it is now too.) so I wanna see what I can notice on my second watch. Shows as good as those two generally have a lot of small details that are worth noticing.
  13. Dude I haven't watched anything from summer 2022 so far other than Lycoris Recoil, but that show really, really surprised me with its writing. It's so damn sharp, and that's a rarity among most anime. They talk and interact so naturally, I fell in love almost instantly.
  14. I just wanna talk about this show for a bit. I just finished it recently and was completely blown away. My favorite Comedy anime has long been Ouran High School Host Club just because no other has actually got me to laugh or feel for the characters like that show did. It felt on another level compared to any other comedy I've watched. So finding another Comedy masterpiece feels really refreshing. Azumanga Daioh I watched solely because I found out Kiyohiko Azuma had a work that was actually adapted into an anime. I've read Yotsubato and feel in love with the series and everything about it, so seeing his style of writing adapted into an animated series I was very excited about and I was not disappointed. The big thing I love about this show is, unsurprisingly to y'all who have watched it, the characters. They just are fleshed out to the point where you could run into people exactly like them in real life. Koyomi, Chiyo, Tomo, Minamo, and Yukari are some of the best written characters from what I've seen. This is still a comedy anime and a lot of the others are ridiculous or exaggerated somehow and that's fine, they're still such organic characters, they feel natural, like real and with depth. And others who are a bit more unrealistic are still some of the best characters in any show I've seen for other reasons. Like Osaka. Osaka. Osaka. Osaka. She is something else I have never seen before and I loved every goddamn second she was on screen. And she's completely killed me a few times, I love it. To anyone who hasn't watched this show, I'm on the ground asking you to. I would've posted this on previous topic about Azumanga, but it was closed. PLUS this show has too much to talk about, I could go on and on.)
