They do kinda have spidey legs now that you mention it, I never thought of it before O.O There's a proper way to grab them from behind their back legs, that's the most common way, or if they are smaller you can grab them under the "armpits" of their claws and they can't get you either.

Ah i get it.. you mean grabbing them close to where the legs connect to body right? yeah that's probably the correct way. i used to grab them from the middle, that's why they’d still manage to touch me with their legs

Yep! In the back around the top of the legs and the claws can't get to you if they are large. Or if they are big you can also grab the back of the shell.
