In my honest opinion, it never works out usually when animation is transfered to movies, although this could work vice versa too. But i also heard some controversy on the "Ghost in the Shell" movie, and i agree with this video that the complaints are wrong for the wrong reason.
But atleast in my honest opinion if someone is from that nationality with the language then it would realistically be realistic to have that person of that race, but i agree that capturing someone's character is far more important. And its ironic that they complain about it that way, when considering "Attack on Titan" (which i havent watched) have German names on characters and weapons, so its assumed to be in Germany, and yet the live action movie has a cast of Japanese actors. So if one would complain about realism then one should do it the same way back, i even heard they plan on doing the same thing with "Fullmetal Alchemist" (Live action movie) even though the main character is obviously from Europe (Atleast fictional Europe) considering the name influences of places and characters. But thats just my opinion.
