  1. Do you prefer to watch anime that are airing or do you prefer to wait until after they're finished?

For me, I prefer to watch the anime after they've aired because I'll lose track of what's going on, especially if I'm watching more than one at a time. What about you guys?

  2. I used to love playing Zombies on all the COD's.

I have completed all zombie Easter eggs on BO1 and 2 with friends, which we grineded for hours to get them. It was a brilliant time, and I still listen to all the songs that Kevin shearwood releases. They are just amazing <3

    I still enjoy playing the zombies on them both using my obsolete X-box 360. I still haven't played Bo3. ;3;

  3. Shiro is cuter, to me and gets a lot more screen time and bonds/grows more with the audience.~

I do want to finish it, but i have so many to watch and not entirely sure what EP i was up too xD think it's 4 or 5

Why not use a website and/or document to track where you are on each anime you're currently watching?

  4. Since I normally watch things after they're finished airing, I haven't actually watched everything that aired in winter. However, I'll talk about everything I did watch and why I did or didn't enjoy it.

Note: there will be spoilers, though I'll try to keep them minimal.

Boku dake ga inai machi (9/10)- This was, by far, the best anime that aired this season (to me). The animation, story and OST was great though the ending could have had some work. Another problem this anime faced, be it intentional or not, is that it was downright obvious who the murderer was, which, for me, took away a lot of the pleasure this anime could have given me. However, I really grew attached to the characters, something I felt the ending ruined (for most of them). However, I really enjoyed it's general idea and the way the story played out. Even though you most likely knew who the killer was, the characters didn't meaning, even if you didn't get the pleasure of figuring out who the murderer is w/ the facts, you still get a similar feeling watching others do the same within the anime.

TL;DR- This anime is pretty good up till the ending and the fav. of the season (for me).

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar (7/10)- This anime was, to me, quite boring at many parts. It had very little action, which was the primary reason I watched it, and even if there was action, I don't feel the shots of said action were in the right positions. The action, wasn't very well done. The only other thing the anime had going for it in this area was it's focus on human emotion, which I feel it also failed at. Yes, they had the general idea down to a key, and it was well done overall, but they tended to skip over the key areas that were highly important. I felt the OST was well done, and, as much as I love pastel coloring and despite how badly I wanted to see it be the art style of an action anime, it felt bland. The art made most of the scenes seem more peaceful than they truly were and the characters and art didn't blend that well. I did like, alone, both the art and character designs, and I felt the characters were well written. This anime really did take an interesting take as they placed the monsters fighting for their own cause, which was similar to that of the humans, so I gave it points for that.

TL;DR- This anime took an interesting side that most don't but left a lot to be desired.

Kono Subarashi... (6/10)- In all honestly, this anime, in aspects of doing what it wanted to do, did better than Grimgar. The animation was better as were the jokes, which were it's main selling points. This is also why I didn't like this anime much. To me, this was a cliche action harem anime that relied on it's silly jokes to make you overlook it's problems. It was one of those blown out of proportions anime when it comes to their story telling and enemies. This can be, if done correctly, really fun. However, the art and story telling didn't seem to go together and I didn't really feel attached to half the main cast. I did enjoy some of the jokes in the anime, but it seemed to be kicking a dead horse by the end of the series with some of their more prominent jokes. This anime doesn't fail to pull a laugh out of you in almost every episode, but it's how often they do it as I found myself laughing less and less at each episode. I also feel this anime left a lot of questions to be answered that weren't though the concept was also, in it's own way entertaining and yet, at the same time extremely cliche.

TL;DR- It was an ok idea with ok humor that only continued to repeat itself.

Dagashi Kashi (6/10)- This anime, like Kono Subarashi, had it's fair share of funny jokes. However, the jokes seemed to get less and less funny, even as they continued to kick a dead horse in much the same way. The difference between the comedy is that Kono tried implementing new jokes more often than Dagashi did. Dagashi sets up a legitimate story line that I could have found myself enjoying, regardless the witting, but after the first episode, it proceeded to trash the idea of a plot and continued itself just like time had stopped for 11 more episodes. Overall, I felt this anime went no where and seemed like a waste of time as the jokes also didn't go anywhere new. I did, however, learn quite a bit about candy. I did feel the OST and animation were above Kono's, which is why the two have the same score.

TL;DR- This anime trashed it's entire concept after episode 1.

GATE Season 2 (6/12)- GATE really lost it's glamor to me as things settled down on the new planet. I didn't get to see a lot of people getting shot and it lost some of it's humor. Yes, GATE did a better job of hitting it's jokes than the other two anime and the animation and OST were decent too, though, Seaons 1 set a high bar and I feel season 2 failed to reach and/or surpass that bar. They did hit new jokes, which kept me entertained, but they seemed to skim over the action scenes even more than the original season did and they took a more innocent stand unlike the first season. The anime also skimmed through a lot of other subjects I felt should have been put into more detail and quickly introduced new characters, even those that stayed.

TL;DR- Season 2 didn't surpass the first season. It dropped the bar as it skipped key areas and action.

Dimension W (5/10)- This is one anime I didn't really like, unlike the vast majority of it's audience. I felt Dimension W's soundtrack wasn't as good as that of other anime as I skipped the OP for the second half of the series (something I don't normally do). To me, this anime just wasn't aesthetically pleasing. I liked how it was out there and crazy at parts, but at the same time I didn't. The anime does wrap itself up in a decent way, though I felt they could have put more into the story (which I would actually give a 6-7/10) to make it better (as space was there) but they also skimmed over quite a few things I felt could have been expanded upon. The anime really lacked life in a good amount of their characters, only really breathing it into 1-3 of them. Dimension W also lacked explanations on some of it's core features, primarily Dimension W itself, even at the end of the series. This is, to me, a big mistake Sci-fi shows should never make- explaining how the world changed and/or it's main concept.

TL;DR- This anime failed to explain key concepts.

Schwarzesmarken (5/10)- This anime, unlike Dimension W, did hit all of it's core factors and changes. However, it lacked the depth I felt it needed considering the stance they seemed to have taken on things. It was interesting as they focused on the politics of things and kept the world divided even though they're losing a war to aliens, something I can actually see happening, but made the politics of the matter child like. They didn't put much thought behind it. I felt a lot of this anime could have easily been trumped had someone pointed out some obvious facts in the anime. I also felt the characters lacked depth and were easily changed (as in 5 minutes they're a different person). The OST was iffy to me but the animation was decent.

TL;DR- The anime had mature aspects it handled in a childish manner and it had bad characters.

Over the course of the season, I also watched some of the shorter anime, though I don't feel they need to be discussed as they weren't really meant to have a thick plot and most likely weren't as well funded as the other anime on this list. I know I haven't seen everything this season, as there are plenty of other anime that aired (and plenty of others from this season I'd like to watch). Also, just so no one gets upset, these are all my opinions and I'm not trying to force anyone to agree with them. I'm a pretty tough critic when it comes to anime as I'm a tough person to please. Some of these opinions are also partly based on my personal preference when it comes to what an anime contains, though I try to keep it based off of a more "logical" standpoint. Also, sorry if I lost you at the end; I spent quite a bit of time writing this and, as it went on, I became less enthusiastic about writing (though I continued on to finish and post this anyways). All titles have TL;DR just in case (since most people keep these things short) and I hope you enjoyed reading my opinions.~

  5. As it stands overall I feel Log Horizon is better the Sword Art Online, though each of them have their own good qualities. Both of them take a different approach to being trapped in a game and they also put give out different information regarding how they got there. I feel one's opinion is based primarily off their tastes rather than the actual quality of the show.

Log Horizon hits a more political stance when it comes to the affects of being in a game and makes you think a bit (not much at some times) than Sword Art Online does. Log Horizon, however, does leave out how they got into the game and are saving that answer for their finale that may or not may not be coming up in a future season(s).

Sword Art Online, however, takes a more action adventure stance when it comes to being trapped in a video game. As the series (or the first half) is much shorter than the so far 2 seasons (though they also haven't finished the story) of Log Horizon, it does a lot more explaining. Because Log Horizon is longer, it also tends to take things slower than Sword Art, which, to some, seems to have rushed through it's primary story, skipping a lot of what it was advertised for (action).

However, both anime have decent OST and are about people being trapped in video games and the affects that may or may not have on them. Each of them is realistic in their own way (Log Horizon focusing more on how people would react and build themselves up whereas Sword Art Online is more about trying to escape in an action romance). I feel Sword Art Online's animation was much better than that of Log Horizons, but I feel that Log Horizon is written better.

Overall, the opinion the anime should probably stand between whether you like a more action oriented anime or if you want something more mentally based.

TL;DR- The two of them are like apples and oranges. They both stem off of tress but are fundamentally different.

  6. Hello and welcome to Anime Forums! I hope you enjoy your time here!

Now, time for the usual interrogation.

    Favorite anime?

    Favorite manga?

    Favorite video game?

    Favorite anime guy?

    Favorite anime girl?

    Oh boy, I feel like I'm a criminal now!~

    1) For my favorite anime, it'd probably have to go to Clannad ~After Story~. I know it has it's flaws and there are other anime that are closely competing with it for my top spot, but After Story was what really got me into anime. Sure I watched a few shows on the side when I had the free time like FMA and Naruto, but Clannad and the Clannad ~After Story~ were really the two (though I don't appreciate the original season as much) anime that made me a patron of the genre. Because of that, they both hold a special place in my heart, especially ~After Sotry~, which still holds a special place in my heart.

    2) This is a little tougher. I don't really read manga unless it's heavily recommended and/or I loved the anime that went with it. Because of this, most of the manga I read are pretty enjoyable to me, but if I had to pick one, it'd probably be Koe no Katachi. I'd probably pick this one over Haganai, because, I don't believe it's movie has aired and because this was one of the first manga (and one of the only manga) that I've ever read. It related a lot to me too as a close friend of mine is actually deaf (though he wears cochlear implants that give him the ability to hear). I thought it was a heart wrenching story the art pleased me, so I'd probably have to pick it.

    3) Probably Civilization V at this point. I don't really play any video games (though I'd like too I spend most of my time watching anime). It's really the only game I play on occasion these days, though there are others I'd play if I feel the need. I'm also saving up (but will probably never buy) for the ~After Story~ VN, though I've "been saving" for years now.

    4) These next two are going to be the hardest so far since I don't really pick favorite characters when compared to the vast amounts of them that I've seen. I'd probably have to say that Satoru from Erased (I'm too lazy to put the entire Japanese name) is my favorite male character right now.

    5) Female wise it'd probably have to be Yozora from Haganai (again, too lazy to put the entire Japanese name). I find her attractive and if anything you could probably call her my waifu.

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's really appreciated!~

    TL;DR:

    1) Clannad ~After Story~

    2) Koe no Katachi

    3) Civ V

    4) Satoru (from Erased)

    5) Yozora (from Haganai)

  7. For me it really depends... I mean, if the art is terrible, I'll probably give it a go regardless and, depending on how the rest of it's content, I'll decide whether to continue or not. An example of this is Ping Pong the Animation. It's almost an undeniable fact that the art was terrible, but the script and story were (to me at least) well written which made the anime, though it's art was bad, enjoyable. However, I'm sure there are anime that are poorly animated and the rest of it's content isn't very good either. An example of this, for me, was Dirty Pair. I wouldn't say the animation as horrible, but, as it's older, it definitely wasn't appealing when compared to more recent titles. To me, the plot and comedy weren't the best either so I gave up on watching it (for the time being. Being the completionist that I am, it'll get finished at some point).

I also feel that this can work in the opposite manner as well. For example (I know this is a hotly debated topic on other sites) I personally didn't like Sword Art Online that much, though the art was stunning. I felt that, other than it's art it didn't have much going for it, which is why, just like Dirty Pair, I ended up putting it on hold for some time (though, unlike Dirty Pair, as of now, I have completed Sword Art Online).

  8. Yo, I'm new here, as you can probably tell. I'm pretty sure I'm making this forum in the right format and if not, I'm sorry I guess? Anyways, as I'm new here, I hope I can get to know everyone here and have entertaining discussions on anime! I've watched anime for quite some time and hope I can keep up with as many discussions as I can!

    Thanks for having me!
