When I was looking on Amazon for anime history books one time, I came across this book from a series called "Asian Hall of Fame: The Discovery of Anime and Manga". I decided I would get it for myself even though it's a kiddie book(Yes I'm a woman in my 20s and I still love collecting picture books), but I thought it looked adorable. Pretty much any anime fan would love this book. In this book it explains the history quite well in a way that can be understood easily for those who are younger, and the illustrations are pretty fun. Of course it shows all the iconic characters like the Ghibli characters, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Pokemon etc. Heck, even Edward Elric makes a cameo! There's even an index in the back.
