senshikoi Posted December 19, 2015 Share Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) So finally got round to finishing Xros Wars II (Hunter), and the latter episodes got me thinking, same as with the Evolution thread I recently made, who chooses the chosen Chosen (Children)? Actually, it's more like, why are the chosen Chosen chosen* picked? For those that haven't seen Xros Wars II, and don't mind a spoiler... some chosen children and Tamers from the other Digimon universes pop up to help save the Xros Wars universe! Made a note of the appearances I recognised, although don't have the "list" to hand, but I'll list those I remember, most of the appearances were as a silhouette montage, but there were some that had speaking or non-speaking roles, inferred or full roles: Yagami Taichi - full role, was Adventure's "Legendary Hero" along with Omegamon; Ishida Yamato - brief speaking role, with purpose of bringing the other half of the Omegamon jogress; Takenouchi Sora - silhouette montage; Tachikawa Mimi - non-speaking role; Kidou Jou - brief speaking role, although as silhouette; Angemon - silhouette montage, in which you'd assume Takeru is also present, but unseen; Angewomon - silhouette montage, you assume Hikari is also present, but unseen! Motomiya Daisuke - full role, was 02's "Legendary Hero" along with Imperialdramon; Ichijou Ken - brief speaking role, with purpose of bringing the other half of Imperialdramon jogress; Inoue Miyako - silhouette montage; Hida Iori - silhouette montage; Takaishi Takeru - see Adventure section; Yagami Hikari - see Adventure section! Matsuda Takato - full role, was Tamers' Legendary Hero, Matrix Evolved with Guilmon; Lee Jenrya - silhouette montage, Matrix Evolved with Terriermon; Makino Ruki - brief speaking role with Renamon, and silhouette montage Matrix Evolved as Sakuyamon; Akiyama Ryo - silhouette montage, Matrix Evolved with Cyberdramon! Kanbara Takuya - full role, was Frontier's "Legendary Hero, as Susanoomon; Minamoto Kouji - silhouette montage as MagnaGarurumon, I think, as well as ball of light, before becoming Susanoomon; Orimoto Izumi - non-speaking role as ball of light before becoming Susanoomon; Shibayama Junpei - non-speaking role as ball of light before becoming Susanoomon; Himi Tomoki - speaking image cut-in as Chakkumon, and ball of light, before becoming Susanoomon! Daimon Masaru - full role, was Savers' Legendary Hero, with ShineGreymon; Noguchi Ikuto - silhouette montage! That might have been everyone, but might have missed one or two, however put a couple of thoughts as to why certain chosen have been favoured more in spoiler tag (musings), other than the fact that all the Legendary Heroes are "goggle boys"! [spoiler=Musings] Adventure - technically all the Chosen Children feature, with Taichi receiving the status of Legendary Hero, even though his partner is a jogress union between him and Yamato; why did Mimi have a non-speaking role, Jou have a speaking silhouette role, and Sora only have a role in the silhouette montage? 02 - like with Adventure, all Chosen Children feature, and also like Adventure, Daisuke receives Legendary Hero status, when again it's a jogress union, this time with Ken; I assume Hikari and Takeru didn't appear because of the question whether they should appear as their Adventure or 02 selves, though 02 Hikari and Takeru along side Adventure Taichi and Yamato would've been interesting to see! Tamers - it's understandable as to why these four are chosen, three of them are classed as the primary Tamers in the series, but all four of them are able to Matrix Evolve with their partner, plus in case of some secondary Tamers, like Katou Juri, there are other reasons! Frontier - even though everyone (well Takuya, Kouji, Izumi, Junpei and Tomoki) forms Susanoomon, only Takuya receives Legendary Hero status, Kouji receives an appearance in the silhouette montage and ball of light, Tomoki receives an image cut-in and ball of light, whilst Izumi and Junpei only receive appearances as balls of light! Savers - only two chosen children feature, with Masaru receiving Legendary Hero status, and Ikuto featuring in silhouette montage, given how Masaru left to live in the Digital World at the end of Savers, and how Ikuto is a "Digimon", that might explain as to why (outside Legendary Hero status) they featured, whilst Yoshino and Tohma did not! I am aware that it's not just Xros Wars II, in which chosen children and Tamers have crossed into other universes(?); I am aware that Ryo was originally from the Adventure/02 universe, and chose to leave for the Tamers universe, whilst Daisuke finds himself in V-Tamer 01 universe at one point! Then there are also crossovers in the games: Digimon Story - Masaru, Tohma, Yoshino and Ikuto from Savers all feature; Digimon World: Dusk/Dawn - Savers chosen children feature again, but Digimon Next (manga) chosen children also included; Digimon World: Re-Digitise - Taichi, Sora and Yamato from Adventure feature, and Takato from Tamers also features; Digimon World: Re-Digitise Decode - cameos in Re-Digitise re-appear, along with Koushiro, Mimi, Jou, Takeru, Hikari, Daisuke, and Saver's Masaru; Digimon Adventure (PSP) - I believe Daisuke, Takato, Takuya and Masaru all feature (post game); Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Mikagura Mirei of Re-Digitise and Decode, Shinomiya Rina of Decode, and Sayo of Dusk/Dawn all feature! Whilst Re-Digitise only featured some of the Adventure chosen children, Decode included the rest of them, however both games only feature one tamer from Tamers, and one chosen child from Savers! I would ask that if the introduction of these new chosen children in Decode are evolution mechanic devices, but, other than the possibility of Hikari and Daisuke being introduced so that Angewomon can evolve into Orphanimon and XV-mon can evolve into Imperialdramon via jogress, the evolutions for the other chosen children already featured in Re-Digitise, unless Decode decided to re-haul the mechanics, which does happen! As for Cyber Sleuth, SPOILER ALERT, Mirei's partner Mastemon (jogress between Angewomon and LadyDevimon) has the ability to travel between universes, but how have Rina (unless she hitched a ride) and Sayo (Dusk/Dawn) got there? *although the concept of using "chosen" or a corruption multiple times for different meanings sounds fun, I'm sure it could be confusing, so I'll stop! Something unrelated to the topic, but anyone else think that Shiramine Nokia (Cyber Sleuth) in the character trailer for Kuremi Kyoko is doing a Gainax pose (three images)? [spoiler=Side track]Although this pose is probably commonly thought of as the Gurren Lagann pose (and I searched for it as such, based on that assumption), I think it should really be known as the Gainax pose, because I believe it has featured in two, possibly three Gainax series before Gurren Lagann; Gunbuster with Noriko, Diebuster with Nono, and (possibly) Neon Genesis Evangelion with Asuka! Gunbuster and Diebuster are actually related series, Diebuster being the "sequel" to Gunbuster, they're also known as Aim for the Top, which is a reference to the Tennis anime Aim for Ace! Thinking about it, the Gainax pose might have even featured in FLCL, thinking about it, possibly couple of others too! Looking at images, it's possible there isn't an Asuka Gainax pose, although there are two that could have been, and two fanart! Also widened field to non-Gainax series using Gainax pose, and came across this, from A Certain Magical Index! Questions: So why have certain chosen been picked over others "in universe" (not real world answers like creator/producer/whomever's choice/preference); Do you think it would have been cool if 02 Hikari was standing next to Adventure Taichi in Xros Wars II; Do you think Yoshino, Tohma, Megumi and Miki were busy in the Savers universe, to pop over to Xros Wars universe; Are you aware of any other cameos?
