Looking for an anime I wactch years ago, please help!

Hi, I'm trying to find an anime from a while back, it was short, I think only 1 season. I don't remember a lot but the main character was a young boy or teenager with scars on his cheeks and I think red hair, it was set in modern times. The boy somehow got powers from it was either a scientist or an alien lifeform that crashed into the woods near his town, that power caused him to transform when he used it to fight alien monsters nearby, he still looked mostly human but his scars on his cheeks grew bigger, stretching across his face and up into his hair making a large X across his face, his hair grew longer as well into kinda like two long spiky twintails sortof. he might have had scars on his arms as well. he fought alien monsters in the woods and on the high ways, but I dont think ever in the town. there might have been a female scientist lady that was helping him.

I wish I could remember more, it was dubbed in english for sure, and maybe made in the mid 2000's or 2010's.

 

If anyone can tell me what that anime was, I'd really appreciate it!

The series that comes most immediately to mind is This Ugly Yet Beautiful World  which came out in 2004 from Gainax.

YES!  that's it, thank you so much!, you have no idea how frustrating it was trying to find this with google, endless links and pictures of Rurouni Kenshin...

I guess it wasn't a very well know show, but I remember really liking it.

That sounds like a wild ride! The transformation details are super specific—someone out there has to know this one. Hope you find it!

This sounds like *Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor*! The main character, Sho, gets powers from a bio-armor unit, and his transformations match your description, scars, red hair, and the X-shaped markings. It’s set in modern times, involves alien monsters, and has a scientist helping him. The 2005 reboot fits your timeline too. Hope that’s the one!
