ItsSammy
I have this weird habit of connecting fictional characters to songs I like, I've recently found about 20 different songs that I now connect to the Sherlock show ... I was just wondering if anyone else does the same thing. For example, the song "Fragile" by Gnash and Wrenn reminds me of Sherlock and Johns friendship so much ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbzBTquVgdk I just can't help but think of them when I hear this song, because the lyrics fit so perfectly. Sherlock, being a high functioning sociopath, struggles with coming to terms with his emotions and the fact that he loves John ... John also seems hesitant through out the show, about actually telling Sherlock that he sees him as his best friend. (I think this is in part, because John's scared Sherlock might not love him back) The lyrics are just so beautiful and it reminds me of their friendship, because they both love each other but they're also scared to tell anyone. The song "Endlessly" by The Cab makes me think of something Sherlock would say to John if he just wasn't so scared to show his emotions ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWWSo_kdaZ0 The line, "Yeah I'm no angel I'm just me, but I will love you endlessly, wings aren't what you need, you need me." reminds me of the time Sherlock said, "I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think, for one second, that I am one of them ..." because he knows he's only human, he knows he can't do everything, and yet he vows to protect his best friend even when it's an almost impossible task. The song "Gravity" by Hovig sounds like something John would say to Sherlock though ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Anxuch_5yY The line, "Let me be your heart and your company, I'll let you be the one who can lean on me." perfectly describes their friendship. John is Sherlock's only friend, his best friend ... He's also the person who teaches Sherlock how to understand human emotion, as well as being there for Sherlock when he needs him. The line, "Let me be your wings when you're flying high I'm gonna raise you up till you touch the sky." is also very accurate since John seems to view Sherlock as being a hero, or an angel, even though Sherlock has told John many times not to see him as either of those ... I feel like John wants to be Sherlock's wings and show him just how much of a hero Sherlock really is, that's why I love that line so much. Now, those are only a few of the songs that remind me of this show but I don't wanna add too many. You guys can go ahead and post songs that remind you of fictional characters, their friendships, or even just the show in general, if anyone else actually happens to have the same habit of linking songs to characters like I do.
BlueNinjaNeko
Hands down, that is the most adorable and relatable thing I've read in a long time. I know close to nothing about that show, i've watched a couple episodes but that's it. But hey, if we find any shows that we have in common I'd love to connect 'em with songs. That sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it?
The Bunk
I'm gonna cheat a little with this because the songs I'm applying to certain characters in shows I've watched are actually used in the show to describe the characters themselves. The Leftovers- "Homeward Bound" for Kevin Garvey (some spoilers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzakrA2NUpg The song pretty much describe Kevin's thoughts on his family up until this point. "I'll play the game, and pretend..." Kevin never seemed to care that much about being with his family. He just held a facade to make it look like everything was ok. Even when 2% of the world's population disappears and his family splits apart, he remains the same. None of his family departed, but he doesn't seem grateful or appreciative for what he has which others have lost forever. So as he sings the song, he comes to the realization that family is important to him. Considering all the crazy things going on, he now desires to go back home and be with them. Fargo- "It's Hard To Be Humble" for Emmit Stussy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYKWch_MNY0 Song was used in an opening episode of season 3. The lyrics "Oh lord, it's hard to be humble/When you're perfect in every way" kinda sums up Emmit pretty well. He's rich, handsome (sans Ewan McGregor's wig), runs his own successful company, has a nice family, lives in a nice mansion- his life seems pretty perfect.
