Ushio thinks that his father's talk of an ancient ancestor impaling a demon on a temple altar stone with the legendary Beast Spear is nuts, but when he finds the monster in his own basement, Ushio has to take another look at the family legend! To save his friends and family from the invading spirits, Ushio is forced to release Tora from his captivity. But will the creature prove to be worse than the curse?

A new anime adaptation of the Ushio to Tora manga.

Due to the lack of Previews I am not sure what to expect of this series , the manga is over 300 chapters long so they do have a lot of material to work with , meaning this may turn out to be a long anime or a multiple season anime. From what (little) I have seen and heard about this series I do think it could turn out to be quite interesting.

Coming this summer.

A great start to the series , introducing us to Ushio and Tora.

Ushio's reaction when meeting Tora was hilarious , seeing him transform like that was also great , I just hope the girls can actually see Tora , otherwise Ushio will look like he's crazy.

Ushio rescues the girls and somehow manages to call to the spear and make it do what he wants it to.

He also starts making headway with Tora , I hope that Ushio isn't found out so soon.

He will probably have to deal with Asako soon as she is most likely to figure it out first.

After finding out that Ushio went into the basement and released Tora , I hope his father has some training for him to do.

That way Ushio can get better , I think that in the future the beast spear may start to transform Ushio into a beast like it did with it's previous owner and hopefully that turns out to be interesting . . . If it happens.

Episode 4-7 Update:

Ushio has been found out by Mayuko and Asako most likely suspects that he hasmore to do with rescuing her from the giant snake than he will let her know.

Ushio has found out that his mother might still be alive and has discovered that his father is much more than he pretends to be.

Ushio has been sent on a mission to travel through the country to find out more about his mother and Tora has decided to go with him.

Ushio had quite an eventful flight with Tora and made a new friend , I hope that he gets to his uncles place soon and learns more of his mother.

I still wan't to know who or what this person that the monsters are talking about is and why they fear it so.

I really enjoyed this episode , having yokai ask for help from the wielder of the beast spear was refreshing and helps to show that not all yokai are evil and that they , not unlike us , wish to live in peace.

I also enjoyed the fact that Ushio didn't agree with killing the troublesome yokai and instead tried to help him even when the yokai's siblings were asking for him to be killed.

I had completely forgotten about this thread ... forgive me.

It looks like things are going to get interesting in the next episode and hopefully we get to see Ushio go full beast.

On the other hand the Four people chosen to be the wielders of the spear seem kind of ... weak and their will to actually use it seems to be quite easy to break.

I can't wait for the next episode , Ushio has gone full beast but sadly he doesn't look as cool as I hoped he would :'(

My guess is that Tora will turn him back somehow (with the help of the other guy's sister).

I hope the fight in the next episode will be as good as I think it could be.

Loving the whole Ushio as a demon thing but I wish the design was a bit better and I have to say I am a little disappointed with the fact that the girls have to comb his hair to turn him back to normal ... kinda makes it seem like he isn't as powerful or dangerous as he should be in demon form.

Glad that Ushio is back but he must have been seriously fatigued because I have no Idea how he didn't see everyone standing right there ...

I hope something interesting happens in the cave and that we get to see Ushio fight at his full power , seeing as he might be stronger than before.

Really looking forward to seeing what happens next ... in the past.

I hope we get to see Ushio fight the Hakumen no Mono (and become the reason the Hakumen no Mono hates the Spear so much and why it left China).

An unexpectedly heavy episode this time round , seeing hoe the spear and Ushio are related and how the spear was made was all quite a bit to take in.

I hope that we get to find out what Tora was about to remember and hopefully it happens before the final fight , otherwise I have a bad feeling that it will cause a rift between Ushio and Tora.

I am really looking forward to seeing what the hell is going on with Kirio and his mother..?

Annoying as he and his youkai bodyguard Kuin are I am pretty sure he is I am pretty sure Ushio will somehow make him an ally.

I was more than disappointed with Ushio's lack of depth in this episode , he just showed how reliant on the spear he was and that he can't deal with loss well , I am hoping that Kirio does turn good though I now doubt that he will and he will probably end up either locked away after being defeated or he will die.

An interesting little interlude with Inoue and Tora , though not much more than that.

I was hoping to see Ushio do some training so that he will be stronger for the battle with the Hakumen no Mono , seeing as there will be a second season there are two possibilities for the next two episodes.

1. Ushio fights and defeats the Hakumen then something more dangerous comes along (probably the thing that made the Hakumen leave China in the first place) or the monsters in japan start going wild because they no longer fear the Hakumen.

2. Ushio goes into training / a journey to train to become stronger to face the Hakumen , which we would see in the next season that would then lead up to the Hakumen fight.

Personally I think the more likely option is number 1 but I would really like to see Ushio get a whole lot stronger and come back with some great new moves.

[spoiler=Not really relevant]The monsters in this episode just remind me way too much of Naruto (Toad Sage) and Sasuke (Snake Sage) , even though the monsters seem to be on better terms with each other than Naruto and Sasuke usually are.
