EmperorQinmon
So, just a few days ago my little sister started watching the Eng dub of the original series online. Being the Digimon fan I am, I've been watching it with her, and... I never realized just how charming the Eng dub is. I still prefer the Original Jap version of course, but there's just something about all these 'Murican voices and corny dialogue that just... makes me feel so happy. And I know it's not nostalgia, cause I didn't watch the original series in English. I just went on Youtube and listened to all of the other season's Eng OP themes, and it actually started to make me cry, in happiness of course. Well, maybe I'm the only that feels this way, but what do you guys think?
Digimon_Sommelier
I watched Season 1 of the English dub of DIGIMON in the summer of 1999, so once I re-watched it, I felt instant nostalgia. Joshua Seth should consider returning if Digimon Adventure tri. gets dubbed; his voicing of Tai is legendary. I really enjoy how charming the dub is. Maybe one day my little one (God-willing) will be introduced to this amazing series and love it as much as I did.
EmperorQinmon
In an interview Joshua Seth said he'll return if they ask him to, ;D
ssjup81
I met Joshua Seth about 7 years ago. Cool dude. That aside, the dub of Digimon is painful to me... Ok, maybe Adventure isn't SO bad...but I still can't bring myself to rewatch its dub. I haven't since it originally aired.

ssjup81
Oh, I met him at my very first anime convention. I went with my friends in Ohio. It was called Anime Punch. I was a part of his hypnotist show.
Digimon_Sommelier
That's awesome. I knew he did hypnotism. He's a magician, right? Cool guy. I'll always remember his work as Tai Kamiya, though. Maybe Joshua could hypnotize me one day. lol
EmperorQinmon
Fun fact, the dub changed his surname from Yagami to Kamiya for some reason.

senshikoi
I never realized just how charming the Eng dub is. I still prefer the Original Jap version of course, but there's just something about all these 'Murican voices and corny dialogue that just... makes me feel so happy. Don't think I could stomach the dub anymore, although I might just be basing that belief on the dub movie, which condenses three movies into one, and then edits it so that there's a common story between at least two of the parts, and once you watch the original three movies, you spot anomalous actions in scenes because of the editing, like the kids pointing to the way to Summer Memory in the original, but in the dub they're pointing for no reason whatsoever! I'm now having flashbacks of Hikari's "Hey kid [Wallace]!" scene from the dub, or words to that effect; Laura Jill Miller's flat dialogue, but probably because Hikari's expression in the scene is "flat", given that the scene's use in the original is completely different! Still, as I said, it could just be the amalgam-movie that puts me off the dub, I do have random scenes (somewhere) from Adventure, 02, Tamers, Frontier and Savers, which I got from a fan site probably hosted on geocities or freewebs from years gone by! You know, it wasn't until I watched the original versions of the amalgam-movie that noticed Mimi doesn't feature in the third part of the movie, in the sequence with the other older chosen children! Actually made a list of the differences, with the originals and amalgam-movie playing side-by-side, though, I think I got sidetracked, when the differences became too numerous! Never saw the dubs to Frontier or Savers, and only a bit of Tamers, I don't think Frontier ever made it to the UK, Savers wasn't on terrestrial television, and Tamers got dropped from terrestrial after a few episodes! I watched a bit of Xros Wars dub, and was surprised they kept the next episode preview, that's something that doesn't happen, although was disappointed they renamed Akari! Joshua Seth should consider returning if Digimon Adventure tri. gets dubbed; his voicing of Tai is legendary. I'm assuming Joshua Seth was the original Taichi, as there was a different Taichi for the Disney dub of Revenge of Diaboromon, due to commitment issues with the original voice artist, I think! Found out Juri (Tamers) was another character to "suffer" change in voice actor, for Runaway Locomon! If they do dub -tri-, I wonder if they will use terms like "Omnimon" rather than "Omegamon", given you've got Alphamon in these movies, it makes more sense to use Omegamon, but then Omnimon is a pre-established name for the west, it depends what name Saban have used in Xros Wars, that is unless someone other than Saban dub it, like with Pokémon the Origin and the main series (or maybe they were both dubbed by the same people, but used different voices, I don't know)! Crunchyroll's translation I think takes from both Japanese and American, given they use "Omegamon" but also use "Biyomon", I think! Slight mistranslation error if I'm not mistaken. I believe I heard that too, is the same thing happen with "Yolei"? Edited November 24, 2015 by Guest
Digimon_Sommelier
Saban Brands has the rights to DIGIMON outside of Asia, so when the time comes get ready for some epic re-naming when Digimon Adventure tri hits the west! Also, I hope the North American version of tri comes as a TV series. 6 movies split up into episodes? I'd rather see it as a TV series, but time will tell. EmperorQinmon
It'd be cool if there was two dubs of Tri. A bowdlerized tv dub, and then a direct dvd dub. Either on it's own would be awesome, but together they could be amazing! Digimon: Digital Monsters Tri, perhaps?

senshikoi
Also, I hope the North American version of tri comes as a TV series. 6 movies split up into episodes? I'd rather see it as a TV series, but time will tell. If they use Crunchyroll's format, then they should be able to make it into twenty-four episodes, as the first movie was split into four, and there will be a total of six movies, unless I'm mistaken! It'd be cool if there was two dubs of Tri. A bowdlerized tv dub, and then a direct dvd dub. Either on it's own would be awesome, but together they could be amazing! Digimon: Digital Monsters Tri, perhaps? As with other series, there might be an English version screened in South Asia! Would Saban be able to use the logo from the FoxKids era? I know when Disney screened the movies, the title sequences all had bad photoshop jobs, using the Japanese logo and painting out bits, or just using a generic font!
