Looks like another busy space year coming up! Not all NASA-related either, which is cool because it means even Trump's Repugs can't screw it all up.

One of the first season eps, "Doomsday Machine". Written by Norman Spinrad iirc.... I think he and the director (whose name escapes me atm) got an award for it too.

I wish I were 12 years old again. SCI-FI Adventure Kit Teaches You Advanced Coding And Circuit Skills in only 30 Days
When I was that age we didn’t even have computers. It wasn’t until I was in middle school that personal computers like the Apple ][ were invented. All we had as educational toys were Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys. And Legos without all the interesting parts.

Einstein, Newton, and Pascal are playing hide and seek. It’s Einstein’s turn to count so he covers his eyes and starts counting to 10. Pascal runs off and hides. Newton draws a one meter by one meter square on the ground in front of Einstein and stands in the middle of it. Einstein reaches 10 and uncovers his eyes. He sees Newton immediately and exclaims, “Newton! I found you! You’re it!”
Newton smiles and replies, “No, you found a Newton over a square meter. You found a Pascal!”(This is the kind of thing I have to put up with at work. The offending party has been dealt with. )

It seems tomorrow is the day for landings. I'm working swings batting cleanup (hopefully) for Israel's lunar landing so I have to go to work and focus on work things at 3PM, but today's falcon heavy launch was scrubbed due to weather and rescheduled for 3:35PM tomorrow! Hopefully SpaceIL will take their first landing opportunity and land just before 1PM so I get a few minutes after reaching my office to at least watch the FH side boosters land in formation back at the Cape. That sight never gets old.
(Previous FH "Starman" launch below. Hope tomorrow's is at least as smooth. Last time they lost the booster that tried to land on the barge. Can they recover 3 of 3 this time?)

Awesome. Especially the part with the two side boosters coming back in formation to land at the Cape. I could watch a loop of that sequence all day...

Tesla's "Mad Max" mode is "far too civilized" for LA traffic?? I have no trouble believing that.

Half the people I play Minecraft with are "creative" and the other half are "survival". I need to find a mod or something that makes the area around the spawn point "creative", but only out to a radius of about 20 or so chunks. After that it is all "survival". Ideally the survival zone would start "easy" and eventually shade to "hard", again as a function of distance from spawn. Of course the nether and the end would be survival. (Gotta have some reason to venture out, right?)
If I had a mod like that I might be able to get everyone together to play on the same server.

I like being alone. I have control over my own shit. Therefore, in order to win me over, your presence has to feel better than my solitude. You're not competing with another person, you are competing with my comfort zones. — Horacio Jones

Queuing up some more reading material, just in case..
(from Cornell’s arxiv.org database)
“The Silurian Hypothesis. If an industrial civilization had existed on Earth many millions of years prior to our own era, what traces would it have left and would they be detectable today? We summarize the likely geological fingerprint of the Anthropocene, and demonstrate that while clear, it will not differ greatly in many respects from other known events in the geological record. We then propose tests that could plausibly distinguish an industrial cause from an otherwise naturally occurring climate event.”
This ought to be good reading...

Here I was thinking that I might actually have a couple hours of discretionary time this afternoon. Shoulda known better. Woke up early this morning to crashing noises and found that one of our “Santa Ana” winds had made a mess of the backyard and dumped a bunch of debris in the pool overnight. We also seem to be missing a patio chair. Have to go knocking on the neighbors’ doors in a bit I guess. Maybe start a load of laundry first however. Get that going while I work on coffee and breakfast. No rest for the weary.

Was up all night at work supporting the Artemis sploosh and lunar flashlight launch/initial ack. Got home at about noon and crashed. I’m just opening my eyes from a ~4hr nap & my body’s in that totally confused jet lagged shift-worker state. Hungry, but is it breakfast time or dinner? Is the rainy dimness coming thru the window morning? Or night? Think I’ll start by rebooting my brain with coffee.

Just getting home from a swing shift. Worked a mid shift Friday->Saturday. I don't know if I want coffee or bed. Guess I'll watch some anime while I decide.
