  1. I'm boring. I use standard Unity Ubuntu with Ubuntu Studio on the side*.

Managed to convert my mum and grandma to Linux too, they both use Ubuntu.

Why not Windows? Well personally I find Ubuntu more responsive, cooler-looking and I think closed-source sucks.

Oh and who even pretends to have time for "Configuring Windows Updates" every 5 seconds like come on why do you have to do this right now?!!

*Literally on the side, on the right in the USB port on my laptop. Or any laptop really that's kind of the point. Use it for music and photo production and just as a general middle-finger to any Windows PC someone wants me to use. A portable desktop on a tiny flashdrive that's still faster that Windows. Except XP. XP rocks.

  2. I could recommend Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon?

About a maid who is a dragon and wow I'm not doing this justice xD

As with most anime descriptions its exactly what it sounds like but not at all like you would imagine from the description lol

Anyway she (Touru) is assertive yet kind as you requested but also cute and hilarious.

The last two go for the whole anime, but you should see for yourself if it interests you?

She isn't too dense either which is a good sign I suppose :P

It's very character focused too, since it's slice-of-lifey and centered around her and who she 'serves'.

  3. Well my wallpaper WAS just this:

Which is a picture I took myself last year but this inspired me to find an anime themed one :)

And one where I can actually see the icons in the bottom right.

See! I bet you never noticed them before I mentioned it!

Now Chito-san will happily watch over my Trash can :naughty:

  4. I suppose whether most people enjoy an anime or not dictates whether it's "good" and well received, so if the masses don't appreciate huge amounts of character death, then I suppose Akame ga Kill exclamation point will never be a good anime.

I on the other hand, loved it to bits, half because of all the brutal, BRUTAL extinction of everyone I'd come to love.

If I'm halfway through an anime and my favourite character dies, then its not in my nature to give up enjoying it if there's still something left that's interesting.

I'll feel like I've been punched in the heart, obviously, but its that gritty everybody-is-dying-but-somehow-we-still-have-to-win attitude that kept me interested and hopeful in/for Night Raid and what ultimately made me feel happy for Najenda and Akame in the end.

I, like a few other commenters believe that the deaths of important characters isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as their death is worthwhile and makes their existence significant or at the very least entertaining.

Anyway, I loved it regardless. Just happy I got to see Henry the Eighth's equally ravenous cousin get mangled by Leone.

  5. Thanks a lot! I sure intend to stay for a while, and this place seems to have a lot of interesting discussion!

And... cake? Cookies? This is the first I've heard of these. Have people been holding out on me?!

Well I mean, sure there WAS cake and cookies...

We appear to have run out though

  6. Welcome!! I too share the same first impression of the forums, it looks fun here and fairly happy :)

Wow, I'm already living up to my avatar and peering over my nose at this place before I've barely even landed xD

  7. Hi everyone! I can go by Nectar, or Jack, or whatever really xD

Although I prefer Jack, seeing as it's my name and being called flower-juice-goo seems strange to me

So I've just been looking for a place to discuss my ever-growing love of anime and japanese culture, and this seemed like a friendly place to join! Also I heard about the cake... and the cookies... just sayin'.

I've watched 20ish anime and finished most, theres only been a couple that I've watched briefly and hated, I'm pretty tolerant to all genres.

Watching Eromanga-sensei, Alice & Zoroku and Akashic Records etc. very-long-name

Only have British Crunchyroll though so I suppose I'm missing out on something :(

Anyway I've given myself enough RSI for the moment, thanks for reading and I hope I'll see you all around :P
