Can't find 80s Anime

Hi all,

I've been searching for anime that I saw in the mid-1980s for many, many years now, but I have never been able to figure out what I saw. It almost feels like a dream at this point. However, I want to see if the community here just might be able to solve this mystery for me. Here's what I remember:

I don't remember how the show or movie began, but the first image I recall is of a girl who was being enticed to follow some sort of unnatural man-like character through a dark, dead forest that led to a castle (the man was the ruler of the castle or something similar; gave vampire vibes). I remember the girl and guy going to his castle and the girl eating strawberries (that were cursed or poisoned?). The bright red strawberries glistened with moisture as she took a bite (I can still see this image). Sometime after, the girl escapes and runs through that same dark, dead forest but for some reason there is lava flowing through the forest. The girl was escaping the lava by running and jumping through the forest (or something similar to that). There was some talk about the man sending the girl to 'oblivion' (not exactly sure what that place was).  That's about all I can remember clearly...

I hope someone can help me figure this out; it's been a mystery for me for at least 25 years now.

Oh my....I think you are right! I skimmed through the movie and it definitely looks like what I remember. Thank you so much. I'm going to have to give it a watch now. Thank you for solving this 30+ year mystery for me!!

No worries. I remember that 80's thing well... and I think they have a new version out now.
