The 100: Roan Respect thread (Spoilers)

Roan was the best character in the show because of his personality and the way he went about things. He was a smart leader unlike all the other clans commanders and leaders and he was willing to talk things out instead of just fighting; He always did the most logical thing when it came to decision making.

 

Roan never hesitated to do what he thought needed to be done, even though other people would hesitate all the time. He did what he needed to do without hesitation.

 

If you were to say Roan was stupid because he messed up Clarkes plan to become a nightblood commander and unite all the clans you would be wrong. He was not making a dumb decision to be dumb or stupid, his decision was not helpful to him or his people but he made it because he had respect for his religion; He cared about his religion enough to stop the one plan that could save his people, because it was "blasphemy". You gotta respect that.

 

He was a very good fighter throughout the show but he still chose to talk things through and make good diplomatic choices for his people; He used his brain and didn't start wars over nothing like all the other commanders seem to do.

 

He survived out in the wilds alone for 3 years and most likely self trained himself to fight. He had morals aside from saving his own people, he was not a one-sided person; He would openly listen to what others had to say.

 

He was a better fighter than Octavia. Roan could have killed Octavia in a one-on-one fight, he clearly showed this by his fighting skills throughout the show. He hurt and almost beat Echo(his best warrior) in a fight when he was injured after being shot. When he and O fought Luna, he hit Luna 3 times and would have killed her had it not been for the black rain(which he didn't run away from, likeaboss!) and O never hit Luna in that fight. He used up much more of his energy than O in the conclave and still outfought her.

 

In the conclave his decision for him to fight made sense. Echo had been thought to have killed O but had actually failed, so Roan probably thought Echo would fail seeing as O would be out for revenge against her; Also, with only six days left to live, if he didn't believe Echo could handle it he would fight, because he would need to, he wanted a warriors death if he were to die and not just die in Praimfiyah and he was the king, he was not going to back down from the conclave at a time like that.

 

Roan showed more bravery and guts than anyone in the show. Octavia comes to Polis and is all like "I'm here for the war" and then when she fights in it she hides the entire time and avoids every fight she can. Indra was stupid and vengeful and killed Azgeda people for no reason when they were letting her pass over to the bunker, she then accepted that other clans could get into the bunker with her but not Azgeda and got everyone forced into the conclave, then she didn't even fight, though she is seposed to be such a tough warrior. She is my least favorite character in the show, she got Roan killed and couldn't even face him herself. Roan was a truly honorable King.

 

He died a warriors death. He didn't back down from the conclave, he fought in it and died a warriors death, he was prepared to die because if he died it would not be the death of a coward. He fought insanely well in the conclave and killed two other crew champions one after the other with no rest in between. He fought smart and teamed up with Octavia and he banished Echo for cheating and trying to help him because he actually cared about his honor and his people.

 

Roan had a great fashion sense, he wore amazing clothes; Big fur coats, cool necklaces, capes and hoods; He dressed to impress, and I respect a person who dresses well. He had the best tattoo's in his whole Azgeda clan as well, they perfectly aligned with his face, which was the face of a lion.

 

Roan was the best character in the entire show even though he had way less time in the show than anyone else.

I agree with everything you said in this forum ... Roan was by far my favorite character in the whole show even though he had much less time than all the other characters.

 

His ability to lead his people with honor, strength, and intelligence was something I'd been waiting for since the beginning of the show.

Every leader we've seen come to power during these 4 Seasons, has always made horrible mistakes whether it be because of stupidity, emotions, or just plain ignorance to others, each leader has failed multiple times in their plans to survive.

Well, except for Roan.

He always had respect for the other clans, he always carried himself with pride and did not cower away from a fight, he believed in his religion enough to die for it (which garnered even more respect from me), he thought every thing through instead of rushing into wars like the other clan leaders did, and, above all, he did what he had to do no matter the cost ... He never hesitated because his emotions collided with the facts, he never even batted an eye when threatened with war, and he never hesitated to stop someone who could destroy their whole chance at survival (unlike some/most characters who let their emotions get in the way of actual survival).

 

Also, I agree with the statement you made about his apparel, seeing as I absolutely adored the fur coat he wore ...

I'm abit confused lol, your gifs/pictures are definetely NOT from the 100 as i have seen Black Sails already and finished it last week. Charles Vayne is the one in the gifs shown above, however i will probably start watching The 100 as i heard its similar to Black Sails. Don't worry i am waaaaaaaaaaaaay to lazy to read everything you have stated above so i wont be spoiled haha, i will come back to this thread once i made my own experiences till then, see ya.

 

Yes, the first gif @SAO LILDOOP posted is from Black Sails but mine is from The 100.

I'm abit confused lol, your gifs/pictures are definetely NOT from the 100 as i have seen Black Sails already and finished it last week. Charles Vayne is the one in the gifs shown above, however i will probably start watching The 100 as i heard its similar to Black Sails. Yea, I can see why it could be confusing, I couldn't find any good gifs from the 100 so I used some from black sails. All the 100 pictures of him are small or blurry or have other people in the pic with him, i'm trying to find some and im making a gif of him from the 100, so should edit this soon with 100 pics. (I found a good pic now and I had to make the gif)
