Anime of course, I already have one Ghibli film so please don't recommend me anymore Ghibli. I am looking for some movies that don't need a series background to appreciate or understand the movie. RepentantSky Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 The Girl who Leapt Through Time is always a good one, as is Summer Wars, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, one I've never heard anyone mention from 1983 called Dallos, A Dog of Flanders is decent. Giovanni's Island is simple enough and fun. The Garden of Words is a short but beautiful film.
