It made me realize you need to cherish the people close to your heart and spend a lot of time with them because you never know when you will lose them. While it is true that I cherish the people close to my heart, I didn't realize until After Story what it would be like to lose them. This has helped me make some serious decisions about my life which have turned out better than I could have hoped.
