  1. You make a fair point that he has had a lot of stressors that would have the potential to change anyone. However! I would point out that Eren had seen several comrades die earlier without losing his firey personality. Also he had been the Attack Titan for years and was still very assertive. So, it seems like he was still HIM to a large extent in spite of the stressors in previous seasons. This season he seems very VERY different. I have had friends undergo personality changes like that, but usually it is due to a brain injury or something more than just circumstances. I suppose his age is a factor too. I don't know, I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I still LOOOOOOVE the series, and this final season might be the strongest one. I haven't finished it yet though. I don't have as much of an issue with Eren doing atrocities because I think that fits the story and his charachter. His personality change though, I feel like that is not a necessary change. Just my opinion. You make good points though.
  2. I suppose spoilers for the newest season apply. First off, I am not talking about Eren doing morally questionable deeds like killing civilians. What I am talking about is his personality change. What happened to him?? He had always been so full of fire! Now seems like a depressed goth kid sitting at Denny's drinking coffee and discussing nihilism. Where is the Eren we know from the series?! A very similar charachter shift happened in another series I kind of liked called Jyu-Oh-Sei (minor spoilers for that series ahead) I mean, compared to Attack on Titan Jyu-Oh-Sei is a pile of crap, but still. I liked it okay for the first half. But that's just it. When there was a time skip in that series the main charachter went from this feisty little Devil into a mopey, moody, lame, non-entity. I am starting to feel similarly about Eren. Is growing up equivalent to losing all assertiveness?
  3. I'm for sure forgetting some still, but this is a start. https://myanimelist.net/animelist/BrokenSpacehog
  4. I can't believe someone else on here posted a song from The Big O! I am definitely in the right place! Haha. I second the opening to Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Here are a couple that I really like.
  5. Awesome! I think that if I'd have run into Star Blazers first that it would be my favorite. I don't think objectively that The Big O is better than a lot of other shows, but I just can't deny that I like it the best. It's the one that roped me in, and there's something about it... But I am kind of intuitive with my choices. I also love the movie Pacific Rim even though I won't argue with someone if they say it it is unrealistic and absurd. I don't care, I still like it! Haha. I suppose a show like Code Geass has more respect and a much cleaner ending. I also loved that show. But I can't give it the nod over The Big O. I'm unreasonable. Haha.
  6. I mean, Death Note if you haven't already seen it kind of hits both categories and is awesome. Well, it's awesome for most of the time at least. I don't have a lot of shows I've seen though. Psycho-Pass is another good one that might satisfy you.
  7. Greetings! I am new here as well. I too like Hellsing Ultimate and the kinds of things you describe. If you can stomach older animation styles, Berserk is top notch. They recently remade it into movies and a show in 2017?? I'm not sure on the date, but the newer show is not so good. The older show is awesome. The movies are decent, but I feel conflicted because I like the older show better. I also really like Claymore. Well, all except the last 5 minutes.
  8. Greetings from Ohio, USA! I am a 40 year old male.who has enjoyed Anime since childhood I guess. It's hard to know when to start the clock because some shows and movies I saw as a kid like Thunder Cats and Transformers were American, but also animated by Japanese firms. I did see Castle in the Sky long ago though and loved it. Like many of you my age I got more exposure to Anime in high school when things like Cowboy Bebop and The Big O were showing up on Cartoon Network. I graduated in 1999 and Adult Swim was actually showing action Anime back then. I have never been an expert by any means, but I do enjoy it. Now that my own kids are getting old enough to appreciate good shows I have been diving back in full force. I watch shows with them, but I usually show them things I'm familiar with. We are trying some new stuff as well. I cannot stress enough that I am NOT an expert. I don't know what all of the various terms mean (e.g. weeb, Otaku, etc.) unless I look it up. Even then I usually forget and have to look it up again. So I'm not anything special, just a middle aged guy with unusual taste and experience. I like some of the older 70s-90s stuff for sure. But I'm trying to expand my taste with newer things that are out now. Other than that, I love to talk about the stuff. I will never be offended by your opinions on stuff even if we harshly disagree. My favorite anime (The Big O)is one that I think no one else lists as their favorite, so I'm used to being laughed out of the room, haha. Generally speaking, I like more shows than I dislike and I'm always down to give something a try. Feel free to pick apart my odd list, it will not bother me. I like talking about it, even if it is hearing how I did an awful job picking shows, haha. Space Battleship Yamato is sweet to me, so I'm going down with the ship! Haha. All in fun though. I guess I am saying don't feel like you need to walk on eggshells with me. I can take disagreement and I welcome it. I won't fire my own disagreement back in retaliation either. Thanks for letting me in!
