The Train

I stand on the station platform,
regularly checking my phone.
It's still on time so I look down the line.
Then I see it.
Thundering towards me
Wreathed in smoke and steam.
Its whistle screams out
STAND AWAY! STAND AWAY!
I move away to a place of safety,
And it's here thundering past
All polished green paint and bright copper pipes.
The cylinders bark
My camera chatters
Capturing the scene.
Then as quickly as it came
It's gone.
I look down the line
at the rapidly disappearing tail lamp.
Slowly I walk away from the platform
Thinking what a marvellous sight I seen.

This is really written nicely you did very well with capturing that moment. I'm thinking the moment is when you go to see the trains you like and capturing it on film?

Thank you. It's the first time I've tried to write anything like that and I think it turned out quite well.  Yes, it's intended to capture the moment when I photograph a steam hauled special passing a station on the main line doing 70mph rather than the 25mph they limited to on heritage railways.  There's just one chance to capture the moment as the whole train takes just 50 seconds to pass by.

Thank you. I've not really written anything like that before, but it just sort of came to me one morning when I was lying in bed thinking about trains.
