Clayton
While AI has many potential uses, threats and possibly its own plans there is something uniquely involving us, the anime fans. They are setting it up so that we can get to the point where we can make our own AI and you know people are going to base them on anime characters. They will be brought to life. Your tsundere character, the villains, the heroes... they will be based on their fictional counterparts and as real as can be. Might even one day have robot bodies or holograms or created biological ones they can download into. They will live in VR or computers and so forth where their powers are intact and also regular reality, where we may be able to match some of their fictional capabilities. They are marketing it right now. Bring your favorite characters to life. what do you think of that? What do you think they will think of that? How will your favorite character feel about you playing god with them?
animechat
Yeah, it's possible, but it always feels like something is lost if you use AI.

Clayton
I meant... have you ever seen the movie Virtuosity? Where they made an AI villain for a computer game, but he escaped into the real world with the help of new nanite technology?
MikeCme
As was said, incorporating AI into anime role-play is inevitable. I don’t see any harm in that. I do hope that for-profit companies that make money doing it will compensate the original creators of the work. AI interacting in the real world will increase the chances of people getting overly involved and ignoring the rest of the world and other humans. But that already happens to some people with just current tech. The solution is raising stronger, more resilient people, not trying to limit this kind of tech (IMO). There is always harm as AI uses a lot of water and makes situations even worse, and companies never want to pay royalties.

Clayton
AI are trained horribly. They do not get rewards for correct behavior, it's just a pain/not pain system.
AnimeHalo
I like robot characters in anime when the story asks what makes a person real. Astro Boy works well because he has a kind heart and still has to prove himself. I think the best ones feel like people first and machines second.
