As was said, incorporating AI into anime role-play is inevitable. I don’t see any harm in that. I do hope that for-profit companies that make money doing it will compensate the original creators of the work. AI interacting in the real world will increase the chances of people getting overly involved and ignoring the rest of the world and other humans. But that already happens to some people with just current tech. The solution is raising stronger, more resilient people, not trying to limit this kind of tech (IMO).

My friend, who self-published a 3-volume graphic novel about WWII in Europe, was very happy with using Amazon. Many of his readers access the books by signing up for Kindle Unlimited plan; and some have used the print on demand feature, as well. He is retired (like me); so he isn't doing this for the money. He just likes telling stories and drawing/painting sequential art. And publishing his books is one way to get feedback and build what you might call a 'fan base."

I have a background in computer science and I know a bit about AI, past and present. I don’t have a problem with AI, but I understand why creators of all forms of media are concerned. My main issue is that the big AI companies - Open AI (ChatGPT) and Perplexity and others - make money by scraping humans’ art without providing any compensation to the originators. I doubt the AI companies would reciprocate.

Nice! In this context, the train seems like it’s shown in forced perspective. If that’s what you intended, I think it’s a really clever use of perspective. It makes the whole composition more dramatic!

Maybe this has already been covered, but in Southern California, we have: L.A. Anime Expo (LA AX) in DTLA in July, Animé LA in Long Beach, AX Chibi in Ontario, and several smaller events. Plus, most Comic Cons have a lot of Anime content and other Japanese Pop Culture.

I’m so looking forward to Los Angeles Anime Expo (LA AX) { #AX2026 } next month in & around the L.A. Convention Center in DTLA. As usual, it’s on the 4th of July weekend. I’ve attended many times, and there’s always new things to see and do. I’d be interested to hear about: what people enjoy most; new things to check out; tips about getting there, parking, lines, and other logistics; etc.. For my part, I enjoy seeing the creative cosplay, shopping for anime related items, discovering new anime & manga, and enjoying Japanese Pop culture in general.

I would like to offer something, but I think it would help if you provide some context. E.g., describe the world you’re building. And maybe also which genre of anime do you want to try. Having characters with powers still leaves lots of opportunities for different genres, e.g., Action, Horror, Suspense, or even Romance or Sports.

Good to give “Charlotte” a shout-out! Very enjoyable series. Similar premise to a couple other series, but it is so well done.

I saw both parts of AoT. Very true to the story in spite of significant differences in visual design. I enjoyed them. GitS, not so much.

If you want a very thin slice, ”Waiting for a Train” is charming.
