Well X/Y tried to give you the option of customising your character, so that might explain why it wasn't enough, as you said, although are you also referring to May and Brendan in Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby too?

The reason why Generation VII protagonists are "not enough" again, is because customisation is back, in some form!

customisation is a cool feature imo.... it's the starting image of the chars that I don't like

Well they're meant to be blank canvases for us to paint our masterpieces on - and by that I mean use the customisation feature !

 

That said however, that does pose a problem if the unchosen protagonist does feature in the game, as with Serena/Calem in X/Y!

 

Still given here appears to be a seperate rival this time round, perhaps this won't come up, unless, like with Lyra/Dawn/Ethan/Lucas in Generation IV, they become the regional professor's aide!

Thought the matching of the voices on the Vimeo one was quite good, I would quite like to see Michael Cain as Professor Oak now, if/when the live abomination goes ahead, and who is it that's the "voice of" James in that trailer (also the trailer above, so obviously people thought it was a good fit)?

 

Interestingly enough, the movie (Rise of Darkrai) actually featuring dreams, wasn't used!! Well not on the hits I found !

As I no longer own a 3DS I'll obviously be skipping these titles, as I did with the Ruby/Sapphire remakes. But based on what I played of X/Y, I'm not missing all that much. X/Y felt laughably simplistic and had so little difficulty to it. On my first playthrough I don't think I wiped out once, and I finished everything including the postgame stuff in less than 24 hours of game time.

 

It was fun to roleplay though, due to the character customisation. I made a girl called Malady, who dressed in dark, earthy colours, and used only pokémon with dark, bug, poison typings, or were themed after bats (because I love bats). Really fun to do and made the game marginally more difficult.

 

I feel that Game Freak are turning too far towards competitive play, though. Since my 3DS was offline for the most part (only connected if I sat right next to the router, which is uncomfortable) I didn't battle online. This meant that the metagaming they seem to promote via EV training and the like was a useless function to me, because nothing in the single-player game was hard enough to warrant spending that much time and effort to do.

 

Hopefully they rectify that with these new titles, but... I'm skeptical.

So, after seeing @Ryuji's current avatar, I was reminded that more information on Sun and Moon was supposed to flood in, a couple of days ago, so just had a look on Bulbapedia now!

 

To start off, Alola Chuck, Hala isn't the Pokémon Professor, it's Professor Kukui instead, although the fact that he's in the background when he's the professor, you would think that it's the other way around!

 

Now our supposed rival, Hau, the kid that featured in the previous trailer, he does also receive a Pokémon from the regional professor, however, if I'm reading this right, he picks the Pokémon WEAK to your choice!?

 

So does this mean he isn't the rival then?

 

The new information did introduce another new kid, Lillie, who serves as a Professor's Aide, hates Pokémon battles, but loves reading books... hang on, haven't we already had a character like this?

 

With this, it seems unlikely that Lillie will be this generation's rival, unless she becomes the rival in the third game, or a second paired game! I'm guessing that Lillie's storyline will involve her getting over her dislike of Pokémon Battles!

 

However, for this game, it seems unlikely she will be the rival, unless she gets over her dislike really quickly! Ohh! Could we see the return of a rival that becomes Champion?

 

Yeah, bit bizarre, these games aren't out yet, and I'm already thinking about whether they will be accompanied by a third game, or a second pair, or perhaps none at all, given that X and Y did not have a Z, or X2 and Y2!

 

Still what would they call the third game this time round?

 

I'm reminded of a trio of games from the Idolm@ster series; Perfect Sun, Missing Moon and Wandering Star, however the Sun is a Star, so I feel it wouldn't be right to call a third game "Star", "Planet" perhaps?

EDIT: Nearly forgot about that, apparently we're now getting a Rotom PokéDex, when I saw that, I thought it was going to be the Unown Dex from Generation II and IV, but no, it's a PokéDex that's merged with a Rotom!

 

That's a pretty weird idea in my opinion, Game Freak wanted to do something different with the PokéDex, and decided to merge it with Rotom!

Hang on, did Game Freak run out of inspiration for characters, I mean we've got: Hala, a Chuck look-a-like (Chuck-a-like?); Lillie, a female Tooi (Movie 7); the male protagonist, an Aqua wannabe; the female protagonist, a Carlita look-a-like (well not really, just the hat, and dark hair, but that can be changed)!

 

You should have just stolen my ideas, Game Freak, and based this region on England, I thought I posted my ideas in enough places, with my contact details ! Not really, I noted my ideas in a couple of places, but I didn't put any contact details down, plus, they would have been in the same boat anyway, as it's not like I'd designed any characters, just the concept of a simplified map of England, with a route of travel:

• Start in south west of the region, and travel north, acquiring four badges, and reaching major city in the middle of the region;
  
• Travel to top of the region, and travel east, acquiring the next four badges, ending at a large city;
  
• Surf over to the island where the Elite Four and Victory Road can be found;
  
• Travel between new region and Kalos on an over sea rail link, starting at large city with eighth badge!
  

I just need a comparison for Hau... - the love child between Roxie and Marlon?

I've read nothing that says Hau picks the Pokemon weak to your choice. (I checked Serebii and Pokebeach. Both of which have been extremely reliable in the past.)

We haven't had a character like this in the games before.

It's on Hau's page on Bulbapedia, it could be a typing mistake, although the only way I see it happening if they said "weak" instead of "strong" which, I see as an impossible slip up!

The fact the female protagonist is wearing Litten shoes is a bit biased, but then Game Freak have always been biased towards fire types!

 

Will we see more Pokémon clothes as customisable items?

 

Looking at the male protagonist, you could say he's wearing Popplio shoes, so that's only Rowlett that hasn't been made into shoes!

So, whilst on the internet, I stumbled across a couple of things that I thought people might find interesting, the first is a YouTube video from someone who apparently spent a lot of time re-watching the trailer, as well as watching some/all of the Japanese ones!

 

Apparently there's now a female swimmer from one/many of the Japanese videos that's now become an internet meme; out of curiousity, I did a search, but no relevant results appeared!

Right, with that, the second interesting thing, were some fake scans, we know what the protagonists are going to look like, so we know for a fact they're fake, but they're still cool to look at!

EDIT: So stumbled across this just now, it appears that someone decided that characters from Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls looked like the new starters:

• How the Triad Primus* normally look;
  
• How they look as starters (on their own;
  
• How they look as starters (with other Idolmaster characters** as trainers)!
  

* - Houjou Karen, Kamiya Nao and Shibuya Rin!

** - Honda Mio and Shimamura Uzuki!
