The series titled "Fullmetal Alchemist" (original story line) came first and then came the series titled "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" (manga based story line). You can choose to watch either of them as they both share the same beginning. If you want to watch both of them then I recommend watching the original series first and then treat Brotherhood like a "further adventures of" series (if you don't mind the repetitive beginning).
